Chapter 2103
Chapter 2103
Aurelia and Wynn had great attitudes, and it was easier to deal with them since they were my biological children. I had never encountered any situation like this, even when getting along with Anne. This was out of my capacity and all I could do was watch her cry.
Society was indeed cold, and passers-by loved watching things play out from the sidelines. As the cries got louder, those who had been minding their own business shot their gazes and stares from every direction possible at us.
To be at the centre of attention was not all wonderful.
I signaled Freya, saying, "You caused this. So, fix it!"
Freya pretended as if she hadn't heard a word I had said.
I was at a loss. "Is this what best friends do? Make a mess and leave the rest for the other to clean up?" I thought.
Anne added, "If you can hold back from crying, I have a solution for you to earn more money and receive more blessings for your mother. If you agree, wipe your tears and follow me. You only get
one chance."
One second was all it took for the cries to come to a halt.
Anne then held the little girl in one hand and the flower basket in the other as they headed down the stairs.
I was dumbstruck, as if I had just witnessed Wynn comforting Aurelia whenever she threw a tantrum.
"I knew we could count on Anne, unlike you. You can't even handle a child." Freya started lashing out at me once the matter was settled.
"Since you're all high and mighty, why didn't you deal with her then? You were the one who made her cry. You're now a mother. It's high time you change that attitude of yours You should try calming yourself down instead of getting worked up so easily. You scare off everyone who approaches you. Who would dare get close to know and protect you if their first impression of you is a fierce and hot-headed woman?" I retorted in return.
Freya was like a hedgehog with thorns all over her body. Anyone who tried to get close to her would get easily wounded. Although her heart was actually softer than anyone else's, she tended to hide it deep within her.
In fact, I hadn't even thought of buying all the flowers and letting the poor girl go, yet Freya had a plan all along. The little girl's impression of Freya for the rest of her life was likely terrible -having been put in a difficult situation and faced with a customer who was reluctant to pay.
"Who cares?" Freya shrugged as she
argued back, unbothered, "All I need to do is make sure that I have the ability to enjoy my single life forever. Why would want to meet someone new and try to understand what he's thinking of or what he wants? I'm not interested, nor do I have the capacity for that. Those that want to leave may leave any minute, and those that want to stay won't go anywhere even though I do everything I can to drive them away. So, why should I change the way I am? I am who I am, and I am not the typical girl you see on the streets, got it?"
Freya was obviously sick and tired of this topic.
About twenty minutes later, Anne returned to us, but she was alone. The little girl she had been with earlier was nowhere to be seen.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
"You helped her sell her flowers?" I inquired. Anne was great with words and was excellently persuasive, so promoting and selling items should be a walk in the park for her. However, for her to do it all in under twenty minutes was still shocking.
"The flowers were sold, but I didn't sell them. In short, the problem was resolved," Anne stated nonchalantly before she walked past us and went to regroup with Aurelia and the others.
The curiosity of how she did it kept me on my toes.
In the end, the mystery was revealed when we left the mall.
The mall entrance looked different from when we first entered through it. There was a newly set up spot with a signboard next to it that read "Flowers and Love for Charity".
"Fresh flowers, 25 dollars each. For every flower sold, 80 percent of the profit will be donated to people in need. Your donation will make a difference."
That was a high-end shopping mall.
The crowd were mostly people of the high-income group, so they wouldn't be stingy for something that costs only twenty-five dollars. All they had to do was scan a QR code to pay, which was much easier and more convenient than using cash. Most of the ladies who walked by took a flower each. Some even paid and left without taking a flower.
