Chapter 2137
Chapter 2137
When I first met Naomi on the island, I was surprised at how she lived. Even when she was pregnant with Sebastian's child, she kept her pregnancy a secret from everyone. It was apparent that she intended to raise the child on her own.
"How did you convince Naomi to come to the island in the first place?" It was clear from the reaction earlier that Naomi was more hostile towards Hendrix than she was with me.
Hendrix was a businessman. When he persuaded Naomi, he must have set her specific terms. My guess was that Naomi had a grudge against him as he had broken his promises.
With a self-deprecating smile, Hendrix said, "You've guessed it again. I won't be able to keep any secrets from you now that you've gotten so clever."
"Stop joking around and be serious. Did you not keep your promise to her because you lost your memory after the explosion?" If that was the case, we owed Naomi a mountainous debt of gratitude.
Hendrix placed his other hand on the steering wheel. His eyes looked slightly misted as he sat up straighter and leaned back in the leather chair. "I promised her I'd keep Sebastian alive."
So that was the reason.
I froze in place, not knowing what to say.
Hendrix promised not to harm Sebastian, but Sebastion had wanted to take his own life so badly, much to everyone's surprise.
A promise like that was an empty one.
We all knew Hendrix couldn't be held responsible for Sebastian's death. Moreover, Naomi wasn't that unreasonable to be holding Hendrix accountable forthat.
Little did I know what Hendrix said next would resolve all my doubts.
"And then there's the kid." Hendrix said, "I looked into it. Neither Naomi nor Jordan currently have any children of the boy's age. They must have gotten separated after the explosion."
Instantly, everything made sense.
Naomi trusted Hendrix enough to
take her son with her to the island. However, what started as a desire to bring out the last of Sebastian's conscience turned into the

devastating separation of mother and son.
Sebastian's death was an accident, and no one was to blame for that. However, Hendrix was responsible for Naomi's disfigurement, her separation from her child and the near loss of her life, which, inegal terms, was an indirect crime.
Looking back, I also would have preferred to be taken hostage for the sake of my child, ignoring Hendrix's and Aaron's advice and arrangements.Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
With the death of the man she loved most, the unknown whereabouts of her closest lineage, and having her face transformed to someone else's, the successive blows were enough to change Naomi's charactepand deepen the resentment in her heart.
My heart flooded with emotions. If Hendrix were a god, he would have calculated and disarmed the bomb in time. Sadly, he was not. Sebastian must have wanted this outcome. Although he was no longer alive, his death casted an indefensible shadow over our lives.
I sighed and nudged Hendrix to drive. "Let's go home."
Stopping here would be pointless. After all, what was about to happen couldn't be avoided.
I wondered the entire way home what it would take to make up for Naomi's pain.
The child was a baby then. He should still be alive after being taken away by Sebastian's men.
Nheless, if Jordan failed to find the boy before, would we be able to six years later?
As such, the resolution of such hatred seemed rather impossible.
