My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna)

Chapter 2139

Chapter 2139

Anyone in their right mind would know how serious it was to lose three children. Mr. Lawson's voice was trembling as he ran. He didn't even hear me tell him to wait before dashing into the house and up to the first floor.

Hendrix and I both sighed in unison. It was clear that Naomi had impersonated me to pick the children up.

Just then, me and Hendrix's phone rang at the same time.

He answered it, then hung up after a few minutes of silence. His expression was no more relaxed than it had been a moment before.

"Who was it?" I asked.

"Jordan." Hendrix looked coldly out of the house at the vacant lot. "He asked us to come over for dinner."

Sure enough, villains colluded. When one showed up, the other would too.

Hendrix lifted his chin and pointed at my phone with a heavy sigh. "With such coincidental timing, there shouldn't be any harassment texts."This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.

I nodded, realizing it much later, and hurriedly unlocked my phone before seeing the text message. "Mum, we're at Uncle Jordan's. Please come and pick us up."

It was from Wynn, but the phone number was not his. It must have been altered with a computer program.

My nerves were immediately relieved. Wynn had always been a clever kid. He knew how to call for help when he was kidnapped.

The corners of my mouth quirked up uncontrollably at the thought. Then, I took Hendrix by the arm and headed back inside. "Get dressed! We're going to pick our son up!"

"What about our daughter?" Hendrix demurred.

"Of course, we'll pick her up as well!" My grin widened, as if this was the first time I'd ever felt so assured about something. "Isn't it the same thing to pick up our boy as it is to pick up our daughter?"

Hendrix grinned thoughtfully, not exposing what I was thinking of.

A mother's affection for her children was naturally equal, but there was room for the occasional favoritism as long as they didn't always favor one side over the other.

For some time, I was afraid that I would be replaced without my knowledge after learning of Naomi's existence. Aurelia and Wynn were the two people about whom I was most concerned about.

They were still young, so their memories of people and events were hazy. It was easy to take advantage of their yearning for a mother's love. A woman who offered them affection and companionship could easily replace my identity as their mother.

Wynn's text was like a burst of flame and fire, dispelling all the darkness in my heart that I didn't even realize I had. He could have asked Hendrix for assistance, but he texted me · instead. Whether intentional or not, such acknowledgment and certainty were enough to relieve all of my worries.

Although it was not my first visit to Jordan's villa, I was in a different state of mind each time I visited.

A maid led us to the living room.

Naomi was trying to bond and build trust with Aurelia in the other room, holding a Napoleon cake that she had ordered from Black Angle earlier that day and was trying to feed her. Aurelia, on the other hand, was less than cooperative. With her doll in her arms, she stood beside Wynn, fiddling with it uneasily.

Her chubby little face seemed aggrieved and helpless. I couldn't help but smile as I thought to myself, "good girl."

After a few moments of observing, Hendrix's low voice rang. "Aurelia."

The little one's eyes brightened up as she heard her father's voice, and she turned to face the door. After making sure it was Hendrix, she scurried over. "Daddy!"

Wynn and Neal followed suit.

"Mummy." Wynn stood in front of me with his head raised high and his eyes curved into crescent moons.

How wonderful it was to be called 'mummy'. It felt so heartwarming as I rubbed his head, praising him with a smile, "Well done, Wynn."
