Chapter 254: Perhaps I Have Owed You
“Then I’ll scrounge a free meal at your place today.” Jiang Xin gave a naughty smile to Qin Muxuan, having no intention to mind the formalities at all.
Qin Muxuan couldn’t help but chuckle seeing the look on Jiang Xin’s face. Actually, Qin Muxuan liked the latter’s forthright character a lot.
“Emily.” Qin Muxuan called Emily.
Having put down the things in her hands, Emily wiped her hands on the apron and showed a smile. Then she walked toward Qin Muxuan and Jiang Xin,
“Miss, is Doctor Jiang going to have lunch here?”
“Yes, please cook more dishes.” After Qin Muxuan said that, something suddenly came to her mind. Then she turned around and asked Jiang Xin, “Are there any types of food you really don’t like?”
“Nothing. Don’t worry, every dish will do. I am not picky about food.” Jiang Xin smiled to Qin Muxuan brightly.
Hearing that, Qin Muxuan gave a smile spontaneously too and then said, “Emily, thank you.”
Emily had already got used to Qin Muxuan’s polite attitude. She then said to Qin Muxuan and Jiang Xin with a beaming face, “It’s my pleasure. I’ll start to prepare now.”
As Emily went to the kitchen to cook lunch, Qin Muxuan and Jiang Xin started their cozy chat again.
The mealtime arrived very quickly. After the three people had lunch together, Jiang Xin got ready to leave.
“Muxuan, I’ll visit you tomorrow.” Jiang Xin waved to Qin Muxuan.
Jiang Xin’s arrival lightened Qin Muxuan’s mood. The latter replied, “OK.”
“Doctor Jiang, let me walk you to the door.” Yin Youting said, gesturing with his hand.
Jiang Xin also wanted to tell Yin Youting something. Then she nodded and walked to the outside.
As Qin Muxuan saw them walking out, the smile on her face disappeared right away. After that, she turned around and walked upstairs.
On the other side, after Jiang Xin and Yin Youting arrived at the gate one behind the other, they both stopped.
Jiang Xin knew exactly what Yin Youting was about to say as she saw the look on his face. So she mentioned Qin Muxuan’s condition first.
“Mr. Yin don’t worry. At this stage, Muxuan’s condition is not that bad. Perhaps it is because she is pregnant with a baby now. Her condition is better than I thought.”
Jiang Xin kept the way she had addressed Qin Muxuan because she kind of liked the latter. Actually, Jiang Xin could tell that Qin Muxuan used to be an outgoing and optimistic girl before she had been through so many things. Thinking of that, Jiang Xin couldn’t help feeling sorry for Qin Muxuan.Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Yin Youting finally stopped frowning and nodded, “She does seem in a better mood today, but before you arrived, she has been having trouble sleeping for a few days.” Speaking of that, Yin Youting frowned and got worried again.
When she heard that, the smile on Jiang Xin’s face also faded away. She did have noticed that Qin Muxuan was not in a good mental state, but Qin Muxuan had never told her about the insomnia.
Yin Youting got a hint from the look on her face, “Xuan didn’t tell you this?”
Jiang Xin shook her head, “No.”
At their first meeting, Jiang Xin had never mentioned Qin Muxuan’s illness in order to let her guard down and only talked about the things that Qin Muxuan was interested in.
“It’s relevant to her illness. Anyhow, further observation is needed.” Jiang Xin already had a plan. Tomorrow she intended to give Qin Muxuan a professional test.
“OK, thanks, Doctor Jiang.”
“By the way, you should take her out more or let her do something that she has an interest in. It’ll help her to recover.”
“No problem.” Yin Youting kept those words in mind.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave then.”
“My driver can take you.”
Jiang Xin chuckled, “It’s fine. I drove here by myself.” With this, Jiang Xin signalled for Yin Youting to look aside.
As Yin Youting turned his head, he saw a red sports car which suited Jiang Xin’s character a lot. “Great. Be careful on the road.”
Jiang Xin waved her hands to Yin Youting and sat in her car. Then, she stepped on the gas and hit the road.
After she left, Yin Youting returned to the house.
When he walked inside, he didn’t see Qin Muxuan. He asked Emily and learned that Qin Muxuan had gone upstairs to have a rest. Then, Yin Youting walked up the stairs. When he arrived outside her room, he found the door was half opened.
He pushed the door open and walked in, finding Qin Muxuan lying on her side. She seemed to be sleeping.
Then, he walked gently toward her bed and then sat on the chair next to her to look at her sleeping face.
He suddenly reached out his hand to touch her face with tenderness in his eyes. Qin Muxuan had almost fully recovered before, but lately her face looked a bit gaunt again.
Yin Youting couldn’t help blaming himself. If he could find her earlier, she wouldn’t suffer all those tortures.
With a heartbroken look flashing in Yin Youting’s eyes, he lowered his head and kissed on Qin Muxuan’s forehead.
Qin Muxuan’s eyelashes trembled slightly. She had woken up when Yin Youting touched her face but still pretended to be asleep in order to avoid embarrassment. As she felt the touch on her forehead, she only felt each second very torturing for her now.
Luckily, Yin Youting let go of her very quickly. After a short while, she heard him closing the door.
She opened her eyes and let out a deep sigh. Now she was not able to sleep again. Qin Muxuan covered her head with the quilt annoyedly. She didn’t know why she started to think of Gu Zijin again.
She wondered if she had owed him a lot in her previous life so that she was always connected with him. She had already left him, but he still occupied her mind.
A tear fell from the corner of Qin Muxuan’s eye. Gu Zijin’s face was the only thing in her mind now. She covered her mouth and did not want to cry out loud. Then she buried herself in the quilt to sob.
‘Why… can’t you let go of me…’
