Qin Xin shook her head, “She didn’t come to class today.”

Qin Muxuan started the engine and coaxed her, “Your Uncle Youting did a big favor to me today. I should invite him to dinner tonight. When we go shopping in the supermarket, you should follow me closely. I’ll make you Sweet and Sour Spareribs.”

Hearing that, Qin Xin pouted and said angrily, “I am not a three-year-old kid. Don’t try to buy me off with food.”

“Then, my dear Qin Xin, who is three years and five months old, do you want to eat Sweet and Sour Spareribs tonight?”

Qin Xin was tempted by the food indeed, but she replied in a reluctant voice, “I will eat it. I don’t want it to be wasted.”

Qin Muxuan chuckled and drove the car into traffic.

Jingyin neighborhood was a high-end residential plot in which there were lots of large supermarkets. The products in the supermarket were of a great variety and of all the brands at home and overseas. Also, the sources of the goods were quite safe and reliable.

It was not the evening rush-hour when they arrived at the supermarket. There weren’t too many people and Qin Xin was familiar to the route to her house which was nearby, so Qin Muxuan didn’t leave the little girl on the car. Instead, she allowed Qin Xin to walk freely around her while she went to pick the vegetables.

Qin Xin was like the bird which had got out of the cage. At first, she followed her mother and picked things for the latter. However, when she passed the snack zone and she saw all kinds of ice-creams in the fridge, she couldn’t move a bit.

Qin Xin stared at the ice-cream through the glass and swallowed. Seeing that Qin Muxuan wasn’t noticing her, she then stood on her tiptoe to reach for the handle, trying to put a few ice-creams in the cart secretly.

The three-year-old girl with a height less than one meter tried her best to reach out her hand. However, as she just touched the handle and gathered all her strength to pull the door-she still failed. Then she could only cling to the door and stared at the ice-creams in the fridge.

In the meantime, she kept swallowing.

Gu Zijin had just moved to the Jing Yin neighborhood lately. Now he was shopping for some snacks for Qin Xin. Seeing that, he chuckled.

The coldness lingering on his face disappeared as if he had been blown by a spring breeze, which fascinated the girls around him right away.

Then, he walked toward Qin Xin in large strides.

After he moved to her side, he squatted down and made a direct level eye contact with her. Then he said softly, “Xinxin, why are you here alone? Where’s Xuanxuan?”

Qin Xin looked around, finding no sign of Qin Muxuan at all. Then she got a bit anxious and forgot about the ice-cream right away. The only thing she wanted to do was finding her mother.

Gu Zijin held her hand at once and said, “Don’t run about. I’ll call her.”

Although he said that, he didn’t dial the number right away and only asked, “Do you want to eat ice-cream?”

Qin Xin, eyes ablaze, nodded vigorously, “I do!”

“Uncle Gu, can you buy me one? Just buy it secretly and don’t tell Xuanxuan.” She held up one finger adorably and looked at him with light flashing in her eyes.

This was the first time they had such a close contact after Gu Zijin knew that she was his daughter. However, hearing her calling him Uncle Gu, the look in his eyes turned frustrated.

“OK, we’ll buy it and eat it secretly. Then we’ll look for Xuanxuan. But you have to call me Dabai.”

Qin Xin was a girl who was easy to be bought off. Then she gave a loud kiss on his cheek happily, “Uncle Dabai, I love you the most!”

Her soft lips left her cheek right away, but Gu Zijin felt his heart already melted and the look in his eyes turned tenderer.

After he rubbed her head with a smile, he stood up and opened the fridge. He asked her to choose an ice-cream first and then took her up to pay. When they were sitting in the dining area, he opened the packet of the ice-cream for her.

Qin Xin looked at the ice-cream and then at Gu Zijin. At last, she handed the ice-cream to him and said with her baby voice, “Uncle Dabai, take a bite.”

Gu Zijin froze for a second.

Ever since he had known her, he never seen her sharing food with anyone except for Qin Muxuan. Even Qin Xiaobai hadn’t received this kind of treatment.

‘Does it mean that I mean a lot to her?’

“You really going to let me have a bite?” He looked at her with surprise and tried to confirm that with her.

“Uncle Dabai, you can only buy one ice-cream now. I cannot eat this alone.” Qin Xin nodded and gestured with her chubby finger, still feeling a bit reluctant to share, “Just take a small bite, very small. Don’t eat too much, it’ll be bad for your stomach.”

Gu Zijin’s feeling had very high ups and downs. At last, he shook his head resignedly and pushed the ice-cream to her, “I don’t like to eat sweet food, you should eat it all for me.”

Qin Xin trusted his words immediately. Then she started to eat the ice-cream cheerfully and had the ice-cream all over her face.

Gu Zijin pulled out a piece of wet tissue which he had just bought and wiped the girl’s face gentle with his head lowered.
