The next day, the sunlight shone through the curtains and landed on Qin Muxuan’s face. Qin Muxuan subconsciously covered it with her hands and slowly opened her eyes.

The first thing that came to her sight was still the familiar ceiling. Qin Muxuan was not fully awake, but she suddenly sat up the next second.

The moment she got up, Qin Muxuan felt sore all over her body and almost fell back. What happened last night all came back to her like a slide show.

Qin Muxuan covered her face with the quilt and knocked on her head in annoyance. She even mumbled, “Qin Muxuan, you stupid woman, what did you do last night? Have you lost your mind?”

Just like that with the quilt covering her head, she vented her annoyance for a while. Qin Muxuan also realized that nothing she did now could change what had happened, so she could only sigh helplessly to herself.

Thankfully, when she woke up, Gu Zijin was no longer around. Otherwise, Qin Muxuan would not know how to face him. Though they had sex the other day, she could always say that she had been drugged, but this time, Qin Muxuan couldn’t say anything to justify it. She did act on impulse and she did say that she was willing.

As soon as she got out of the quilt, Qin Muxuan’s and Gu Zijin’s eyes met. There was still some moisture on his face; apparently he had just washed his face.

Qin Muxuan acted like she was a turtle and buried her head in the quilt without hesitation.

Gu Zijin was stunned for a moment when he saw what Qin Muxuan did; then he let out a low laugh.

Even though it was not loud, it pierced into Qin Muxuan’s ear like a needle. Qin Muxuan blushed even more. She thought to hell with it and removed the quilt resolutely, “Gu Zijin, why are you laughing?!”

Gu Zijin coughed and stopped laughing, but his smile was overflowing from the corner of his eyes. “Nothing. I just think you look so cute.”

Qin Muxuan was speechless when she heard what Gu Zijin said about her. When did he become such a sweet talker? If it were four years ago, she would never believe that Gu Zijin would one day use the word “cute” to describe herself.

However, it was undeniable that Qin Muxuan felt much better now, but she didn’t show it and just snorted.

Then Qin Muxuan felt that there was something wrong with the way Gu Zijin looked at her. He had put away his smile and narrowed his eyes. And he started to look at her from top to bottom. Then he fixated his gaze on something.

Qin Muxuan followed his gaze and realized that she had used too much energy when she lifted the quilt. And Gu Zijin’s gaze was fixed on her half-exposed bosoms!

Qin Muxuan hurriedly pulled up the quilt and covered them up. She glared at Gu Zijin as if doing that would make her braver, “What are you looking at? Don’t look!”

By now, Gu Zijin had learnt what Qin Muxuan’s temper was like. Compared to the obedience and timidity she showed to him four years ago, he liked it better now as she was livelier, so he was willing to play along with her.

Gu Zijin walked over to Qin Muxuan and touched her head. “Alright, go take a shower. I tried to wake you up last night but I failed. A shower is what you need now.”

Feeling Gu Zijin’s hand on her head, Qin Muxuan was even more speechless. Why did she feel that Gu Zijin was treating her as if she were an irritated cat with its hair pointing straight up?

But she did feel that her whole body was sticky and uncomfortable, so she asked, “What time is it now?” She knew that she was not wearing anything down there.

“It’s almost eleven,” Gu Zijin answered.

Qin Muxuan raised her voice in shock. “It’s already 11 o’clock?! Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?”

Catching Qin Muxuan’s resentful gaze, Gu Zijin couldn’t help but laugh, “I thought that you were too tired and I didn’t want to wake you up. Besides, you’ve got nothing else to do today. It’s okay to sleep late.”© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

Hearing that, Qin Muxuan looked even more resentful. And who was the one who made her so tired?

Considering how easily Qin Muxuan could get embarrassed, Gu Zijin put away the smile on his face, “Alright, go wash up first. You can go eat later.”

Qin Muxuan let out a low “Mhmm” and then stared at Gu Zijin.

Gu Zijin met Qin Muxuan’s gaze calmly. No one knew if he really didn’t know that Qin Muxuan wanted him out or if he was just pretending not to know that.

In the end, Qin Muxuan just gave up and said directly, “Go out first. If you don’t go out, how can I get out of bed?”

Seeing the meaningful smile of Gu Zijin’s, Qin Muxuan felt that she had said something wrong again!

Thankfully, Gu Zijin didn’t try to make it too embarrassing for her and left the room.

Seeing that Gu Zijin had left, Qin Muxuan breathed a sigh of relief and got rid of the quilt altogether. She saw dense kiss marks which looked a little frightening. She secretly swore that Gu Zijin was a jerk as he didn’t even restrain himself!

Indeed, Gu Zijin, who got Qin Muxuan’s permission last night, had long forgotten about being restrained or self-controlled or calm.

Qin Muxuan took a set of clothes and entered the bathroom. She took a deep breath while looking at the mirror and she confirmed that Gu Zijin was a real jerk!

Having freshened up, Gu Zijin returned to the room. The curtains were pulled open and the room was bright. He made a call while standing on the balcony.

Gu Zijin was wearing a simple white shirt and black loose pants. He left his hair uncombed after he’d washed his head. He was not suited up as always, instead he looked quite juvenile. It was hard to imagine that Gu Zijin would look so juvenile, whereas he was so sophisticated and decisive in the working place.

After a few minutes, Qin Muxuan regained her senses and felt that her face was a bit hot. Just now she couldn’t help but watch Gu Zijin as if she had been enchanted.

Gu Zijin hung up. Qin Muxuan was just about to walk over when she saw his phone vibrating in his hand again.

Gu Zijin frowned and looked at the caller ID. He didn’t pick it up right away. Just when Qin Muxuan thought the caller was going to hang up, Gu Zijin picked it up reluctantly, “Hello?”

“Take Xiaoxin home today,” Gu Heng sounded like he was giving an order.

Gu Zijin frowned even more. “Xiaoxin doesn’t know her identity yet, and I need to get Muxuan’s permission.”

“Xiaoxin is a child of the Gu Family. Why do you need that woman’s permission?” Gu Heng sounded a little excited.

“Muxuan is Xiaoxin’s mother,” Gu Zijin’s tone was flat as usual.

“You!” Gu Heng was just about to scold Gu Zijin for being unfilial, but Ye Han took the phone.

Ye Han glanced at Gu Heng with disapproval. Gu Heng snorted coldly but didn’t grab back the phone.

“Zijin, it’s me.”

When he heard someone else talking on the other end of the phone, Gu Zijin’s expression softened a lot, but his tone was still a little cold, “Mhmm.”

When she heard her son’s indifferent voice, Ye Han felt a little helpless and sad. She spoke gingerly, “Zijin, I know about Muxuan and Xiaoxin. I want to see her. Is that okay? Can you take them here today?”

Gu Zijin didn’t reply.

Ye Han sighed, “I know our Gu Family has wronged Muxuan, but Xiaoxin is a child of our Family and I am her grandmother. I just want to see her. Is that okay?”

When talking to Ye Han, Gu Zijin could never say something that was too cold and hard. After a while, he said, “I can ask Muxuan if it’s okay for her.”

Gu Heng, who was listening to their conversation, instantly got angry. Just as he was about to scold Gu Zijin, Ye Han gave him a look that she meant to kill him if he dared to say anything, so Gu Heng had to endure it and didn’t say anything.

Ye Han smiled and her tone was still gentle, “Okay, go ask Muxuan and tell her that I want to see Xiaoxin. She is a sensible child and she won’t refuse.”

Gu Zijin said “okay” and hung up the phone.
