Chapter 39
Chapter 39 Does He Like You?
"Alexander Morgan, 52 years old, from New York, has been working in landscape design for many years. He is now a renowned expert in landscape design, having lived in Europe for many years and married for several years with a son." Mr. Satan briefly told her about Alexander Morgan: "I wanted to investigate his wife too, but there's limited information. His wife is very low-key and seems reluctant to be in the spotlight."
After hearing this, Emily's certainty grew stronger.
The conditions matched too perfectly. There are many people with the last name Morgan, but there are probably very few who meet all these criteria.
It seemed that the information her uncle brought back was likely accurate, and this Alexander Morgan was very likely her father.
Mr. Satan asked her, "Emily, what do you think?"
Emily hesitated for a moment before saying, "He has his own family now. Does his current wife know about his past with my mom? If I acknowledge him as my father, I'm afraid it will disrupt another woman's family."
Mr. Satan reached out and gently stroked her forehead, "You're worrying too much. If it's really him, he should pay for what he's done."
"How about I arrange to meet him alone? Breaking up a marriage or a family is really tough for a woman to endure. I've endured that pain myself and don't want to be the cause of that pain for someone else. Or maybe I want to understand a bit more about his wife. Did he give up on my mom because of her?"
Mr. Satan said, "His wife probably doesn't have much of a background. If she did, I would have found out. I guess his wife is just an ordinary person."
There's no conclusion for now; this is just a suspected lead.
And all the results might have to wait until Alexander Morgan returns to New York to be confirmed.
The second car exhibition was scheduled for this Sunday.
On Saturday morning, Jackson called, asking her to come over to do the models' makeup.
This time, Emily firmly refused to let him pick her up. She got up at seven in the morning, took the bus downstairs, and was the first to arrive at the exhibition site.
Several models arrived one after another. They gathered in groups, chatting about recent TV shows and variety programs.
Emily didn't watch much TV and couldn't join in the conversation.
She wasn't a very social person anyway, so she simply stayed in a small corner, quietly observing them.
In her mind, she imagined what kind of makeup and hairstyle would suit them best.
"Hey, what's your name? Are you the new model today?" One of the models came up to her and started a conversation.
Emily smiled, "I'm the makeup artist."
The model gave a knowing look, "I thought so. Jackson cares about every detail! Last time, the makeup artist came dressed very casually and got scolded by Jackson on the spot. Be careful today." Emily didn't argue, just nodded with a smile.
She just wanted to quietly earn money and didn't want to attract too much attention.
At exactly nine o'clock, all thirty models had arrived, and so had Jackson.
As soon as he appeared, the entire backstage fell silent, and everyone timidly lowered their heads, afraid to speak.
Jackson's gaze swept over the crowd, finally settling on Emily.
His eyes darkened suddenly, and he pointed at her, "You, come out."Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
A few models whispered among themselves.
"Oh no, this makeup artist is probably going to get scolded again!"
"I feel sorry for her. She looks pretty today, at least much better than the last one, so why does she still have to be scolded?"
"You're too naive. When does Jackson need a reason to scold someone?"
"Yeah, that's true."
Emily sighed and got up, walking over. "Good morning, boss. Did you need me?"
Jackson glanced around, clearly displeased with the crowded environment. He grabbed her wrist and started pulling her out. "You, come out. I need to talk to you."
The action of him grabbing her wrist shocked everyone.
"Could this woman be Jackson's girlfriend?"
"The best joke I've heard all year: Jackson actually has a girlfriend now."
"Jackson is a confirmed bachelor. Him having a girlfriend isn't normal, is it?"
While the makeup room buzzed with gossip, Emily was pulled by Jackson into a less crowded corridor.
"What do you want to talk about, boss? We don't need to go this far..." Emily said.
"I'm asking you," Jackson pushed her against the wall, his hand slamming beside her head as he loomed over her. "Was it my brother who drove you home from the private club last time?" Emily bit her lip and nodded. "It was probably just on his way. He was just helping me out."
"No! We were all waiting for him at the club. And he had time to drive you home? Does he like you?" Jackson demanded.
Emily didn't know how to respond.
If Mr. Satan was indeed Allen Parker, then he should be interested in her.
"You're not saying anything, so I'll take that as a yes?" Jackson sneered. "So, Emily, I never thought I'd be played by someone like you!"
"It's not what you think..." Emily tried to explain. "I've known him for longer than I've known you."
"Ha!" Jackson laughed bitterly, hands on hips. "So what, Emily? I can't believe I've been fooled by a woman like you!"
