Chapter 72
Chapter 72 Pursuing You "Who?" Emily asked.
"I just bumped into Jackson outside! Your boss! He knows my dad, and he actually knows me too! He said you're doing a great job at work and wanted to thank me for recommending you, so he wants to treat us to lunch." Emily quickly shook her head. "No, thanks. I'm just doing my job. Since he knows your dad, you guys can go for dinner. I don't want to join in."
But Olivia insisted, "Why not? You're going to be Jackson's sister-in-law in the future. Wouldn't it be good to get to know each other beforehand?" Although Olivia had a point...
"Alright, stop hesitating. Don't you want to have a good relationship with Mr. Satan?" Olivia said.
"Of course, I do," Emily replied.
"Then let's go!" Olivia exclaimed. "You've been brooding over Mr. Satan's ex-lover, haven't you? We can ask Jackson about it! Since you've decided to marry him in the future, you surely want to know about this, right?" Emily couldn't help but waver at this reason.
Olivia started the car and headed to a restaurant.
When they arrived, from quite a distance, they could see a purple convertible parked outside, attracting the attention of passersby.
Olivia exclaimed, "Did I get my information wrong? Allen Parker isn't a gay but his brother Jackson?"
Emily didn't catch on. "What?"
Olivia smirked, "It's said that those who like this kind of purple are usually gay."
Emily chuckled and denied, "Jackson probably isn't."From NôvelDrama.Org.
"How do you know?"
Because... he confessed to me today...
"Because he doesn't actually like purple; he just likes to stand out. I've seen him drive several different colored cars, bright yellow and pink. These colors are all rather flashy. Compared to those, this purple car is relatively low-key." Olivia pouted, "Artists are indeed unique, either introverted or arrogant."
Emily agreed with this statement.
The car stopped at the restaurant entrance. Emily got out first, while Olivia went to park.
She stood in place, waiting for Olivia to join her before going in together.
"It's really hard to see you," Jackson's voice suddenly sounded, startling Emily. She turned around to see Jackson standing on the steps, arms crossed, looking down at her.
There was a mischievous smile on his lips, his gaze sharp. "Emily, do I have a contagious disease? Or am I so ugly that you're backing away as soon as you see me?" Emily felt a bit embarrassed. "No."
"Have you been crying?" Jackson asked.
Emily was taken aback for a moment, then shook her head. "No."
Jackson took a few steps closer to her, bending down to look at her closely. His voice softened involuntarily. "You said you didn't cry, but your eyes are red."
Emily lowered her head and rubbed her eyes. "Maybe it's because the car window was open, and the wind blew into my eyes."
"You're lying! Tell me honestly, is it because your dad's medical bill? You can tell me, how much do you need? I'll give it to you." This boss sure was generous.
Emily politely declined, "Thank you, I have enough money. I just feel bad seeing my dad suffer."
Jackson sighed. "I didn't know that before; I thought you were just a country bumpkin. But later, I found. out how difficult these years have been for you... Alright, don't be sad anymore. You don't want my money, and you keep avoiding me when I want to help you. I don't know how to help you."
"You're a good boss, you don't need to help me anymore. I'm already very lucky," Emily said.
"You're rejecting me quite
perfunctorily Last time in the
hospital, you made up a lie about infertility to brush me off. Now you don't even have an excuse. I'm your boss, but the law doesn't say that bosses can't pursue their employees, right? You have the right to refuse, but I have the right to pursue you."
"Cough, cough, cough!!!" Olivia deliberately coughed loudly, interrupting the conversation between the two. Emily quickly walked over and grabbed Olivia's hand, creating some distance between her and Jackson. "Olivia, how much longer until your dad arrives?"
Olivia shielded her behind, cautiously watching Jackson. "My dad should already be inside. Emily, let's go in."
The two girls walked ahead, and Jackson shrugged, his hands in his pockets, leisurely following behind.
Olivia had heard what Jackson said just now, but what did it matter? Jackson was never afraid of anyone except his brother. Once he had made a decision, no one could stop him. Olivia glanced back slightly, and Jackson still exuded an air of dominance. She frowned and whispered, "Emily, what's up with this Jackson?"
Emily also looked helpless. "I wish I knew."
Olivia's excitement was barely contained. "Two brothers fighting over one woman! Oh my, this is just like those TV dramas! Hey, does Jackson know about you and Mr. Satan?" Emily shook her head. "Mr. Satan has never admitted he's Allen Parker, so I can't reveal his identity. I just said I have nothing to do with Allen Parker."
"Oh, that's good. But once the truth comes out, Jackson will probably be very angry."
Emily knew this truth. She had already clearly rejected Jackson, but he didn't seem to show any signs of giving up.
"Does Mr. Satan know about Jackson's feelings for you?"
Emily hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "He should be aware."
"Then there's no problem. He'll handle it."
The waiter led them to a private room on the second floor. Opening the door, they saw Olivia's father, James Taylor, already seated at the head of the table. Emily politely said, "Mr. Taylor, it's nice to see you."
Seeing her enter, Mr. Taylor smiled
happily. "Emily, you're here? Come on in and have a seat. Jackson, come sit down too. It's my first time here. Im not familiar with their offerings. Would you like to order?"
Jackson took the menu and handed it to Emily. "You chose the one you like."
Emily hesitated. "This is my first time here too."
"Just order what you want. You're too skinny, not sexy at all. Order whatever you like, don't worry about the price."
Mr. Taylor seemed to catch on to something. He chuckled, "Jackson is such a gentleman, taking such care of his female employee, huh?"
