Chapter 417 The Fertility Report
After dealing with the documents, Louis still had other matters to report.
However, Harold dismissed him. “Wait outside. I need to make a call.”
No sooner had Louis left the room than Harold called his subordinate with his phone.
The moment the call connected, he asked, “Are you back from Alendor?”
“I came back before you did, Boss.” The voice over the line sounded anxious. “We have been waiting for your call all this while. When we didn’t hear from you over the last few days, we were so worried that we almost went over to check.”
Harold furrowed his brows in response. “You had better mind your actions. Now that I’m the CEO of Fairchild Corporation, it’s inappropriate for you guys to show up around me. What about Otto? Is he still keeping an eye on the situation there?”
“Don’t worry, Boss!” Previously, Harold’s subordinates addressed him as “Mr. Horton.” However, ever since he asked them to address him as “Mr. Fairchild,” they decided to use “Boss” instead, as they couldn’t get used to the sudden change.
“Otto won’t dare to come back without your permission. He reported that the exploration team searched the cave for two days but found no signs of life or any bodies. The real Xavier must have disintegrated in the lava.”
“Good. Tell Otto to stay there and keep an eye on the exploration team for a while longer. Also, have you brought back Xavier’s blood and hair sample?”
Harold had made meticulous preparations after deciding to replace Xavier.
Back in the cave, he had stolen Xavier’s blood and hair in anticipation of any eventualities.
Cognizant of the items’ importance, the subordinate seized upon the opportunity to take credit. “Yes, I have! I treated them as if my life depended on them. I know how important they are to you. Do you need them now?”
“Mmm-hmm. Tomorrow, in fact. Think of a way to send them to me. Remember not to show yourself, and don’t let your face be captured by the surveillance cameras.”
“Huh?” The subordinate felt lost. “Where should I put it for you? Those items are important to you but are trash to others. It’s better if I hand them over to you personally.”
“I know, but I can’t come out right now.” Harold pondered about the matter. “Why don’t I get Shania to contact you? She’ll bring the items to me. You still remember what she looks like, don’t you?”
“Yes. She’s a pretty lass.”
“Good. it’s settled then. You had better not mess up something this simple.” Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
Two hours later, Harold returned after a meeting.
He ordered not to be interrupted on the pretext that he was resting.
Thereafter, he spilled a cup of coffee on purpose and called for the janitor to come in.
The janitor was none other than Shania, whose identity under disguise was Janice Cramer.
The moment she entered the CEO’s office, she locked the door tightly behind her.
“Hubby!” Shania greeted as she walked straight up to Harold.
Being a vamp, she straddled his thighs. “I brought the items you want. Is there a reward for me?”
Just as Shania was about to kiss him, Harold pushed her away. “Where are they? Give them to me.”
“What’s the hurry?” Shania puckered her lips. “It takes time to strip.”
While speaking, she began to sensuously unbutton her top. “Hubby, they’re right inside. Why don’t you feel them for yourself?”
Staring at her porcelain white skin, Harold curled his lips into a smile. When he reached his hand into Shania’s top to retrieve the box, he gave her a pinch. “I’ll check the items first before we have some fun.”
“Sure.” Shania got off him upon receiving the response she wanted.
After making sure the items were in order, Harold pinned her on top of the table.
Feeling his pressure on her, she asked in a breathless voice, “How does it feel, Hubby, to be doing it in Xavier’s office? Isn’t it exciting? Going forward, this entire building will be yours.”
“That’s right.” Harold’s eyes had turned insanely bloodshot. “They’re mine. They’re all mine!”
It wasn’t until twenty minutes later that Shania left the CEO’s office.
As for Xavier, he took a quick shower before heading off to the hospital with the blood sample.
When he arrived, Josiah was there to receive him.
“I’ll be taking your blood this time.” Josiah had gotten all his equipment ready. “I can’t believe I let you escape this morning. This time, I’m not letting you go. Quick, give me your hand.”
“I didn’t escape,” Harold plainly replied. “Something urgent just came up. Here I am. Now, go ahead and do it.”
Harold behaved cooperatively this time, and Josiah swiftly took five vials of blood.
However, as Josiah was packing up, a sudden commotion was heard outside.
It seemed like there was an argument over a medical condition.
Josiah wrinkled his brows. “What’s going on? Why are they arguing on this floor?”
Harold broke into an insidious smile. “What’s there to be surprised about? Most of the hospital’s department leaders are on this floor. If anyone wants to kick up a fuss, this is the place. Why don’t you go out and check? I’ll wait here for you.”
“Okay.” Since Josiah’s family owned the hospital, the last thing he wanted was for the situation to blow up.
No sooner had Josiah left than Harold quickly replaced his blood with Xavier’s.
He then rummaged through Josiah’s desk.
When he didn’t find anything interesting, he proceeded to open one of the drawers.
Even though most of Josiah’s drawers were locked, he had opened that particular one earlier.
Since Josiah didn’t see “Xavier” as an outsider and had left in a hurry, he didn’t bother to relock that drawer.
Consequently, Harold went through its contents and found a document with Winnie’s name on it.
It was none other than her fertility report.
Upon skimming through it, he found an interesting detail—Winnie had lost her ability to conceive.
Haha, this is excellent news!
Harold only knew that Winnie had gone blind and was oblivious to the fact that she was barren.
As a diabolical glint flashed across his eyes, he ecstatically took a picture of the report with his phone.
He seemed to have found a way to torment Winnie further.
