Chapter 26 The Pain

Chapter 26 The Pain

Emily went back to the apartment to take a shower, and when she got back to the house of the Morris

family, it was almost dawn.

Maisie Morris was sitting in a heavy wooden chair in front of the gate, with Dorothy and Louisa standing

on each side, like two statues.

The atmosphere was weird. She walked over and wanted to speak. But before she could talk she was

slapped on the face. It was fiercely painful.

"You dare to come back?" Maisie was so angry that her breathe was disordered. Her good wish on this

girl was in vein.

"Grandmother…"

"Don't call me grandma. I do not have such a shameless granddaughter. Your mother was so good

when she was young. Look at you now...cough cough..."

Maisie was aged and her health was not as good as before. After a few words, she had to stop to catch

breathe.

Upon seeing this, Dorothy shouted, “Louisa, go get your grandma's heart-relief pills."

Louisa took the medicine out, was about to hand it to Dorothy. Emily grabbed the bottle and pushed

through Louisa and Dorothy, stared fiercely at them, “Don’t you dare touch MY grandmother."

It was clear that Dylan told Dorothy privately, and then Dorothy told her grandmother. Maisie moved to

live in the old house in the east of the city two years ago. She rarely cared about family business.

Dorothy knew that Emily was made of iron and steel, yet her only weakness was Maisie. Maisie had

always loved this granddaughter the most. Dorothy wanted to strike Emily down with Maisie’s hands.

Maisie swallowed the medicine, her complexion gradually eased. Emily held Maisie’s wrinkled hands,

squatting and weeping on the carpet.

"Emily, you let me down."

Maisie sounded bitter, which made Emily so distressed, “Grandma, I know I was wrong, don't be mad

at me."

"I always believe in you." Maisie's scrawny hand held her back, and her tone was somewhat relaxed,

“Your dad has already left. I don’t want any accident on you. I just want you to have a peaceful life.

Those in the Clark family are not what you should provoke."

Emily really wanted to list all the crimes of Dorothy one by one, but unfortunately she couldn’t even

protect herself now, let alone her grandma.

"Grandma, I have a job now. Don't worry, I will be fine." Emily gritted her teeth, “I won't let the bad guys

succeed."

Maisie’s hand was shaking, as if she was trying her best, “Did find out who killed your dad?"

She had an answer but she had no strong evidence to pin the culprit now.

"I'm still looking into it."

Maisie's eyes were full of concern, “You must be careful. There’s someone trying to stab you in the

back."

Louisa was standing aside, holding a bowl of rice porridge. When she heard the grandma, she shook

her hand so much that she almost knocked over something.

She walked in with a forceful smile, and Emily said to her, “Take good care of grandma, I'm going to the

company."

Louisa had so many questions to ask, but she couldn’t speak out with Maisie around. So Louisa held

back.

Dorothy made coffee and the kitchen was full of fragrance. This was a habit she followed since she

came to the Morris family. Whatever happened, her rule of a cup of coffee before breakfast was never

broken. Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.

“Emily, you are such an ungrateful thing with no conscience."

She walked in and looked around the kitchen indifferently. The furnishings and decorations were pretty

good, which indicated this vicious woman had a bit of taste as a hostess of a rich family.
