Chapter 28 You Shall Stay Here Tonight
Before leaving, Theo glanced at Amanda and reminded Iverson, “I advise you to mind your own business. Otherwise, you will only harm yourself and her if your grandmother hears about it.”
Iverson frowned.
As soon as Theo left, Amanda wanted to say goodbye as well. “It’s already 11 o’clock. I have to go now. Mr. Byran, thank you for what you did today. I…”
“You shall live here tonight.”
Iverson’s cold voice interrupted Amanda’s words and stunned her.

Amanda was very touched and grateful that Iverson had saved her, but this did not mean that their relationship had to go further. She also did not think Iverson was obliged to care for her own business.
“Forget it. It’s too late today. Mr. Byran, I’m leaving.”
Amanda didn’t want to be entangled with Iverson anymore, so she got up and left.
But before she could step out of the wool carpet in the living room, her wrist was pulled by force. Her high heels spun at her feet in her exclamation, and she fell on Iverson’s leg.
“Let me go!”
Amanda struggled to get up in a hurry. She clenched her fists and waved them wildly, but she was caught the next second.
Amanda was pressed down on the sofa with a gust of wind. Iverson pressed her hands over her head, and the distance between her nose and the tip of his nose could almost be measured by the millimeter. Their rapid breathing intertwined together.
Amanda’s mind was buzzing.
“Amanda Jewell. I’ve run out of patience today.”
Iverson’s expressionless face was inches away from hers, and his eyes were filled with exhaustion and impatience. His voice was hoarse as he said, “You can leave if you want, but as repayment, shouldn’t you do something?”
Amanda’s face paled, and she mustered all her strength to push Iverson away. “Iverson, I’m not the woman who would rack her brains to climb into your bed!”
“Who told you I thought you were one of those women?”
“Then why did you let me live here?”
“It’s 10 km away from the city center. The driver has just driven Mr. Scott away. Are you going back on foot?”
Iverson’s expression remained unchanged. “By the way, do you think I don’t even have a guest room at home?”
After saying that, Iverson straightened up from the sofa and looked at Amanda seriously.
“… guest room…”
Amanda coughed. “Are you telling me to sleep in the guest room?”
Iverson reached out to her. “Or else?”
For some reason, Amanda held his hand and pulled him up. As they got closer, she heard Iverson say, “If you want to sleep in my bedroom, I don’t mind either.”
Hearing this, Amanda’s face burned, and she hurriedly broke away from Iverson’s hand, creating a safe distance between them.
Just then, the servants came back after sending the doctor. “Young Master, the guest room upstairs is ready. Miss Jewell, would you like to see if there’s anything else you need? I can buy it in time.”
Amanda looked relieved. “I’ll go take a look.”
Looking at her retreating figure, Iverson took a sip of his tea, a trace of warmth flashing through his eyes.
In the bathroom, steam filled the air.
The air was filled with the fragrance of the rose perfume.
Amanda soaked herself in the bathtub. Everything around her seemed so unreal.
She felt she must be out of her mind to have agreed to let Iverson stay at his villa tonight. Also, he had hugged her on the top of the mountain in front of Olinka and Halley. It didn’t seem like he was faking it when he saw how nervous she was while treating her wound…
Amanda’s mind was getting more and more confused.
Does he really like me? Just because of that one-night stand?
The next day.
Amanda opened her eyes early. Although the bed in Iverson’s guest room was big and comfortable, it was still a strange environment for her, so she didn’t sleep well that night.
After washing up, Amanda went downstairs.
Iverson was already having breakfast in the dining room.
“Good morning, Miss Jewell.”
The maid’s voice brought Iverson’s attention from the magazine to Amanda. “You woke up so early. Did you not sleep well last night?”
Amanda shook her head. “I’m fine.”
“Have breakfast. Jamie will come to pick me up later. Where are you going? I’ll take you there along the way.”
“Just take me back to downtown.”
Amanda hesitated for a moment before replying, “Mr. Byran.”
“Call me Iverson at home in the future.”
Amanda was surprised to hear that.
“On non-business occasions, I don’t like such formal titles.”
“Okay… then.” Amanda coughed. “I want to tell you that I’ve thought about it. I don’t think it’s appropriate for you to let me live here.”
“What’s inappropriate about it? Aren’t you already undergoing the divorce procedure?”
“But I haven’t gone through the divorce formalities yet. According to the law, it’s illegal for us to live together.”
In the latter half of the sentence, Amanda’s voice was too low to be heard clearly.
Iverson thought for a moment and nodded in agreement. “That makes sense.”
“Is that so?” Amanda was delighted. It was rare for her to see Iverson being so reasonable.
“Give me your lawyer’s contact information and end the case as soon as possible. We will get married directly.”
“What?”
Amanda choked on a mouthful of juice.
Marry him?
Is there something wrong with her ears? Or is there something wrong with Iverson’s consciousness?
