TAMING THE BEAST IN HIM ( His Red Phoenix )

Phoenix was at home, keeping herself active with what she loves doing the most, baking. She was done preparing a savory pancake for herself and was about to dig in when she began having a bad feeling. She had to place the pancake aside when her heart leaped in fear.

Her hair tie glinted and a vision came up before her. It was a vision of Axion’s car crashing into the tree. The spoon she was holding fell off her hand as she froze in great scare.

Gianna almost flew out of the windshield when it crashed with great speed into the tree but her seatbelt held her back. She ended up bumping her head lightly on the seat.

Axion’s head on the other hand was about to collide with the steering wheel when he felt something wedge him and bounce his head back. He closed his eyes, letting out a heave.

” That was close ” He mumbled.

Gianna’s eyes widened in dismay seeing as nothing happened to Axion. She was more than shocked.

” How is this possible? Why didn’t anything happen to him? ” She gawked at Axion.

” Damn it! ” She grumbled under her breath.

This wasn’t what she planned. The deal was for Axion to bump his head to the steering wheel and pass out. She will use the opportunity to connect her blood with his and bind him to herself. Now the entire plan is wrecked.

She noticed Axion was about to turn to check on her and she quickly closed her eyes. Her index fingernail grew to a sharp claw and she used to cut her face deeply, faking unconsciousness.

Seeing the blood rolling down her face,

” Gianna ” Axion called, tapping her cheek.

Scared she was hurt, Axion stepped out of the car and hurried to the other side. He opened the door and carried her out. Just then, a car pulled over. The doors opened and Phoenix and Glinda scurried out.

Phoenix cupped his face on getting to him.

” Axion, are you ok? What happened, are you injured? ” She rasped in worry.

” I’m perfectly fine. Gianna is the one injured ” Axion replied and Phoenix looked down at Gianna.

” Let’s take her to the hospital, ” Glinda said and Axion nodded. He was about to head to the car when,

” No Axion ” Phoenix halted him and he shot her a glare.

” Let me take care of her. I can heal her wound ” Phoenix offered and Axion eyed her, not believing what she said.

” Are you sure? ” Phoenix nodded firmly to his question. Axion looked at Glinda.

” Let her do it,” She said to him. Not having a choice, Axion walked over to the car and laid Gianna in the back seat. He and Glinda entered the front seat while Phoenix stayed with Gianna. Staring at her, Phoenix noticed her eyes were moving despite being closed and that made her frown. Well, she decided not to say anything as Axion drove off.

Gianna was now lying on her bed still feigning being unconscious. Phoenix was sitting beside her and Axion was standing.

” You can leave Axion. I’ll keep an eye on her ” Phoenix said to Axion who nodded and left.

” You can stop with the pretense now, Axion is no longer here ” Phoenix rolled her eyes, getting up from the bed. Gianna let out a snort and opened her eyes. She sat up, smirking at Phoenix.

” Oh my, I’m so scared. You caught me ” She disparaged.

” How dumb can you be Gianna? Of all things, setting an accident for yourself and Axion… was that all you could come up with? ” Phoenix scoffed at her stupidity. Gianna frowned deeply at her.

” How did you find out? ” She questioned.

” Isn’t it obvious? ” Phoenix folded her arms.

” That doesn’t matter, Gianna. Just listen to me ” She said and leaned closer, gripping Gianna’s chin and tilting her head up while scowling at her.

” Thank you heavens nothing happened to Axion or else, I swear, I would have made life miserable for you Gianna, for attempting to hurt my mate ” Gianna gulped down nothing in fear. Looking at Phoenix’s eyes, she need not be told she meant what she just said.

” I am trying not to ruin you Gianna but don’t force me to because I am ever ready to end you ” Phoenix threatened, letting go of her chin before storming out of the room.

Heavens know Gianna almost peed in her pants because of Phoenix’s dreadful eyes. She might be the Princess of Terror and is meant to inflict fear in people, but right now, even she too was terrified.

Axion on getting downstairs saw Glinda pacing to and fro in worry. Seeing him,

” How is Gianna? ” Glinda rushed to him.

” Don’t worry aunt, she’s ok. Phoenix is with her ” Axion assured and she let out a relaxed sigh.

” I’ll take you home ” Axion added and she okayed.

Minutes later, Axion pulled over and they both went into the house. Axion sank to the couch immediately, resting.

” I’ll go get some water, ” Glinda said and left to the kitchen. She came back later and handed a glass of water to Axion who gladly accepted.

” Thank you ” He thanked and Glinda sat down beside him.

” Least I forgot, aunt. How were you able to find me and Gianna? ” Axion inquired.

” It wasn’t me at all. It was Phoenix ” Axion frowned.

” How did she learn we got into an accident? ” He asked.

” She saw a vision about it ” Glinda answered.

” Huh? ”

” She’s your Phoenix remember? She can sense when you’re in danger and even see it ” Glinda smiled.

” One thing you aren’t aware of is that Phoenix really cares about you ” She added but Axion rolled his eyes, placing the cup on the table.

” Aunt, please ” He snorted. Glinda let out a sad sigh.

” If only he knew the extent Phoenix can go for him, ” She thought to herself.

” Have you wondered why you didn’t get injured in the accident? ” She threw the question at Axion who nodded a “no”.

” Phoenix tied a necklace on you. That necklace is connected to her hair tie and is meant to protect you even when she isn’t around ” Glinda revealed and Axion’s eyes widened.

” What? ” He exclaimed faintly.

” But I can’t see anything ” He glanced at his neck.

” Neither can I or anyone else. Only she can. She was the one who told me ”

” Why will she do that? ”

” Because she cares. Despite hurting her, she knows she has a responsibility toward you and she is ever willing to let go just so she can protect you ”

Axion’s face died down in sadness. What Glinda made guilt strike his heart.

” So she still wants to protect me despite telling her not to? What type of a human is she? ” He thought to himself, looking down in guilt. Seeing the guilt on his face,

” Axion, I think it’s high time you let go of the hate you have for her. Try to get to know her and trust me, you will see she is nothing like you think she is ” Glinda persuaded and stood up.

” Phoenix is an amazing person. She is ready to help even her enemies if required. I hope that one day, you’ll open your eyes to see who the real her is ”

” I’ll go to my room now ” She added and left, leaving Axion to ponder over what she said.

Meanwhile, there in the sitting room was Tamara, hiding by the walls and eavesdropping on their conversation.

Axion couldn’t stop thinking about all Glinda said even as he drove back home. He got to his room and opened the door. He saw Phoenix standing like she had been waiting for him.

” You’re back ” She smiled at him and seeing her smile, Axion’s heart skipped. Phoenix noticed him attempting to hide his hand making her frown. She took his left hand and opened his palm. She was surprised to see the wound on it.

” You’re bleeding ” She muttered in worry but Axion quickly retracted his hand.

” It’s just a minor cut ” He said, walking past her to the closet.

” But it will be infected if not treated ”

” I told you it’s nothing, just forget it ” Axion snapped and commenced taking his shirt off. Phoenix walked toward him and held his wrist prompting Axion to glare at her.

” Let me heal it ” She insisted, peering intently into his eyes. Once again, Axion’s heart leaped and he quickly looked away.

” I will make it quick and you won’t feel any pain, I promise ” Phoenix assured.

In other, for her to stop bugging him, Axion gave in. He sat down on the bed, stretching out his hand.

A tiny smile crept up Phoenix’s lips and she joined him on the bed. Axion made sure not to look at her face so his heart won’t start behaving silly again.

Phoenix carefully placed her palm on his, interlocking her fingers. Axion’s heart jumped and he felt a sweet tangle in his stomach. He could feel butterflies swimming around in his stomach, at the feeling of Phoenix’s hand on his.

Phoenix closed her eyes and Axion couldn’t help but peek at her face. His face softened and that alone got his heart drumming. Something hit him instantly.

” You’re beautiful and cute ” He didn’t even recognize when that left his lips. Phoenix heard him and her eyes snapped open, widening.

” What did you just say? ” She asked, shocked. It was then that Axion came back to his senses. He pulled his hand out and stood up, backing Phoenix.

” Leave, I need to change ” He commanded and Phoenix stood up. Her heart was leaping in happiness.

” Did you just…

Axion closed his eyes, letting out a groan of frustration.

” What the fuck is happening to you, Axion? ”

Gianna can be seen, pacing to and fro in an unfamiliar room. She was in her true state and was snarling now and then.

” What the heck is wrong, what the heck should I do? ” She groaned loudly.

” I can’t even get close to Axion and neither do I know why. How in heavens way am I going to accomplish my mission?! ”

She stopped pacing and turned.

” I need your help, I badly do. I’m sure Phoenix must have done something but I can’t fathom what ” She was talking to the shadow of a person, whose face can’t be seen.

” A necklace ” The person mouthed making Gianna frown at her.

” What do you mean? ”

” A powerful necklace is protecting Axion from you. Phoenix was the one who gave it to him ” The person revealed.

” A necklace? But I can’t even see anything on Axion’s neck ” Gianna scoffed.

” It’s invisible and not everyone can see it… but I can and I know exactly how to take it off his neck ” An evil can be seen creeping up Gianna and the shadow’s lips.

” This isn’t your job anymore Gianna. Let me handle this…
