The Ceo’s Contract Lover

His obedient wife

After a long day at work, Jayden returned home late at night.

He pushed open the door to their bedroom and found his wife lazing on the bed, scrolling through her social media. Glancing at her, he set aside his briefcase and removed his suit and tie before making his way into the bathroom.

After a quick shower, he donned his black pajamas and returned to the bedroom.

He noticed Nina had already fallen asleep and turned off the lights. Lifting the comforter, he lay beside Nina, who had her back facing him.

The nights in Spring City had grown chilly these days. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.

Without disturbing her, Jayden pulled her into his embrace and closed his eyes, his hand slipping inside her shirt. His broad palm squeezed her left breast, pinching her nipples as he planted a kiss on her cheek.

Amidst the hushed atmosphere, Nina’s voice was heard.

“Was the Irish coffee good?” she inquired, her fingers grazing the back of his hand that fondled her nipples with his fingers.

The room was quiet, and only the rhythm of their breathing was heard.

Jayden’s eyes narrowed, and he pinched her nipple with force. “You were spying on me?”

Nina winced from the pinch but didn’t push him away. Instead, she turned around to face him. “Now that your sweetheart is back, everyone in Spring City is waiting to see you abandon me,” she murmured.

She did not even have to do anything. The photos of their date were delivered right to her inbox.

Jayden did not respond to her.

In the silence that followed, Nina assumed he had drifted off to sleep. Pouting slightly, she was about to close her eyes when his voice broke through the stillness of the room.

“Emma has just taken over her family business and wants to cooperate with our company for a project,” he explained, his eyes remaining closed. “We’ll have to work together, so you might come across such incidents in the future.”

He was reminding her not to be affected by the ongoing rumors. “Our relationship is purely professional,” he emphasized.

“I trust you,” Nina suddenly replied, catching him off guard.

Jayden slowly opened his eyes, not believing her words.

“You can have business dealings with her, or you can even date her. I honestly do not care,” he heard her continue. “Like you said, I’ll be an obedient wife and not cause you any trouble.”

In the darkness of the night, Jayden’s eyes turned deep as he locked his gaze onto Nina’s amber eyes.

Nina didn’t flinch and stared back at him. There was an unspoken, silent tension between them where neither of them was willing to back down.

Their silent standoff continued when suddenly Nina felt a wetness on her lips.

Jayden’s actions were rough as he bit down on her lower lip, causing her to taste the metallic tang of blood. What followed was a fierce and almost punishing kiss, as if it were the only way Jayden could vent out his frustrations.

The next morning, Nina woke up early and made her way to the kitchen to help prepare the breakfast. However, as she descended the staircase, her expression changed when she noticed a stranger in the living room.

There, on the couch, sat Emilia in her semi-formal clothes. With an iPad in one hand, she casually sipped on the orange juice as if she belonged there.

Nina didn’t offer her a greeting, nor did she pay any attention to her. She acted as if the latter did not exist.

However, the layout of the kitchen counter was open, making it impossible for her not to notice Emilia’s presence and her actions in the adjacent living room.

The air inside the kitchen was heavy, and even the maids could notice the unspoken tension.

Soon, they heard Emilia’s pleasant voice.

“Eva, what’s on the menu today? I miss the English breakfast you used to prepare,” she inquired, not bothering to look up from her iPad.

Ms. Eva subconsciously glanced over at Nina and stood there awkwardly, unsure how to respond.

“Ms. Moore, we’ve already prepared vermicelli noodles and dim sum for breakfast,” she replied tactfully. “Why don’t I make an English breakfast for you next time?”

Displeased by her behavior, Emilia finally raised her head. However, when she saw Nina standing beside the housekeeper, she refrained herself from reprimanding her.

After a while, Emilia detected a scent wafting from the opposite side of the room. Her gaze fell upon a maid arranging lilies in a vase.

Frowning slightly, she called out to the maid. “Hey! What are you doing over there?” she questioned with a hint of irritation. “Are you new here? Don’t you know that I’m allergic to lilies? Change them to lilacs instead.”

Emilia continued ordering the housekeepers and butler around, acting as the mistress of this house.

Finally, she turned to the Butler and instructed. “Send two cups of coffee to the study later. We’ll be having a meeting soon,”

Bang!

A sudden, loud bang echoed through the house, startling everyone.

Nina slammed the wooden spatula down on the counter and stormed out of the kitchen, making her way up the stairs.

Her chest was burning with anger as she reached the first floor and pushed open the door.

“Jayden Luxton, I don’t care what you do with her outside, but I don’t want that woman in my house,” she announced fiercely.

Jayden, who was on his phone, hung up the call and explained. “She came over to dis-”

“I don’t care.” Nina cut him in as she said firmly. “I don’t want to see her for another second at our house.”

She had been holding back her emotions for so long, but she couldn’t take it anymore! It was fine if he did not care about her. But, despite knowing how much it affected her, he still dared to invite her to their place.

Was he crazy?

Their home was her last fortress. If she could not even decide on this, then she had already lost!

Jayden’s face darkened when he heard her stern warnings.

“That’s enough. It’s not a big deal. Stop being unreasonable,” he said, with a hint of irritation in his voice.

Lately, he had been busy with an overwhelming workload that needed his immediate attention. All he had wanted was to swiftly deal with the situation at work, but he didn’t expect his wife to continue creating a scene. He felt a headache coming on as he looked at her unreasonable behavior.

Just as he was about to speak again, Nina suddenly burst into tears.

She lowered her head, and her tears streamed down her face, falling to the floor below.

Dumbfounded by her sudden tears, Jayden quickly closed the distance between them and pulled her into his embrace. Nina tried to avoid his touch, but Jayden tightened his hold on her.

Not that Nina had never cried before. But it was only in their bed when he rammed into her all night. And seeing her cry so pitifully today, he felt as though someone was squashing his heart. “All right. Stop crying. I’ll take care of it.”

Unfortunately, her tears had no intention of stopping.

“Jayden…” Nina’s voice was soft as called out to him through her tears.

“Hmm?”

‘Why can’t you understand?’

Nina remained silent, burying her face in his chest.

Jayden held her tightly, allowing her to release the pent-up emotions that had been building within her.

After she had calmed down, Jayden called Emilia into his study. It was unknown what he said, but Emilia’s face turned extremely ugly as she stormed out of the manor in anger.

Lately, the entire Spring City was shrouded in gloomy clouds.

“Don’t go around on your own. Wait for me to pick you up,” Jayden instructed, his hand resting on the steering wheel.

“Okay,” Nina replied, waiting for him to unlock the car door. However, when she looked up, she found him gazing at her intently. With a sigh, she leaned in and planted a kiss on his lips.

The door unlocked, and Nina stepped out of the car, heading towards her office.

After the working hours, Nina sat inside the company’s lobby, waiting for Jayden’s arrival. However, an hour passed, and there was still no sign of Jayden. Nina tried calling him, but his phone remained unreachable.

The heavy rain continued to fall outside, and soon the company prepared to close for the day.

With no other option, Nina made her way out of the office. She opened her umbrella and began walking through the corporate district.

The sky rumbled with the deafening thunder of approaching storm clouds.

As she navigated through the rain-soaked streets, Nina’s unease grew with each step.

Suddenly, a gust of strong wind snatched her umbrella from her grip, sending it soaring away.

“Oh, no!” Nina exclaimed, attempting to catch the umbrella as the relentless rain poured down around her.

With her only defense gone, Nina raised her hands above her head, using them as a shield, and sprinted towards the bus stop located just ahead, seeking shelter from the unrelenting storm.

Nina reached the bus stop, drenched from head to toe. Raindrops clung to her hair, and her clothes clung to her skin. Feeling cold and anxious, she shivered in the weather.

She stood there, checking her phone for any response from Jayden, only to realize that her cell phone did not have any signal.

Minutes ticked by, but the rain showed no intention of stopping.

Two hours had passed, and there was still no sign of Jayden. It wasn’t like him to leave her waiting without a word. Especially when he knew about the awful weather today.

As time dragged on, the rain intensified.

The roads were empty and there were no signs of any humans or vehicles on the streets. Shivering from the cold, Nina wrapped her arms tightly around her body, rubbing her arms to generate some warmth.

The bus stop offered little protection from the heavy downpour, but it was still better than being exposed to the rain.

The depressing atmosphere, coupled with the deserted streets, and the constant downpour, frightened Nina.

It made her feel abandoned once again.

She glanced at her phone once again, but the object was as good as dead. With the gnawing silence from Jayden, a surge of emotions rushed through her, and tears welled up in her eyes.

She couldn’t hold back any longer.

The feeling of being alone once again in the dark, rain-soaked streets tugged at her heartstrings. She was tired both mentally and physically and desperately wanted to return home.

Return safely into Jayden’s arms.

How could he leave her alone?

She understood he must have been caught up somewhere. But couldn’t he at least leave her a message or send someone else to pick her up? Why did he ask her to wait if he was busy?
