Stepmom vs Stepson
The aftermath of the incident had taken a toll on Nina’s mental health. Recognizing the need for a break, Jayden took her to Iceland’s serene and breathtaking landscapes.
Meanwhile, back in Spring City, a storm was brewing as Jayden’s stepmother, Lilian, turned the city upside down.
Upon learning of Keith’s brutal predicament, Lilian’s world seemed to shatter around her. She wasted no time and dropped everything before rushing back to Spring City.
When she arrived at the hospital, Lilian felt as though someone had hammered her chest. The sight of her only flesh and blood, beaten and battered, drove her to the brink of madness.
“Where’s Jayden? Where’s that bastard?!” she screamed. Her voice, a thunderous force that echoed through the halls.
Seeing her son in this state, she wished nothing more than to skin Jayden alive, and to exact a painful retribution.
“Old Madam, Master isn’t here.” The nurse replied as she watched Lilian cause a ruckus.
“I don’t care.” Lilian pointed at the nurse. “Get him over. Right now!”
Helpless, the doctors could only inform the guards Jayden had stationed. However, Lilian became even more furious when they informed her Jayden was busy and could not see her.
Stubborn, she drove to The Meadow Residence but her efforts to gain entry were in vain.
The Meadow Residence was guarded with strict security. It was evident that except the couple themselves, nobody could enter the territory.
Lilian’s frustration grew as she realized she couldn’t even breach the perimeter of the villa.
The repeated failures and the mounting frustration had pushed her to a breaking point. Like an injured beast, she was teetering on the edge of an explosive outburst.
At last, she could only inform William about the entire ordeal. Because in this world, William was the only one who could order Jayden around.
Unfortunately, Lilian had underestimated Jayden ruthlessness. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
When Jayden received William’s call in Iceland, he issued a clear and uncompromising threat that left no room for negotiation. “Father, if you intervene, I’ll resign from the Luxton Corps.”
Hearing his threat, William was so furious that he almost passed out in anger.
Choosing between an incompetent good-for-nothing son, and the CEO of the Luxton Empire, it was obvious who held more importance in William’s heart. Hence, he let Lilian deal with Jayden herself.
Lilian did not expect Jayden to not give them any face. However, she was not someone who would easily surrender.
Finally, after days of relentless pursuit, she had a breakthrough.
Jayden had returned to the country, and she saw an opportunity to meet him. While she might not reach him at his manor, she could confront him at the company.
Without wasting another second, she drove to the Luxton Corporation.
With her stiletto heels clicking on the polished floors, Lilian charged towards the top floor of the company. Even in her moments of anger and distress, she maintained the elegance and haughty demeanor that befitted the title of the madam of the Luxton Empire.
Her presence was a force to be reckoned with as she walked toward Jayden’s office.
As she strode through the hallways, the employees couldn’t help but exchange whispers and furtive glances.
Even when William was the CEO, Lilian had never bothered visiting the company. She only cared about fulfilling her role as Madam Luxton by being a stay-at-home wife, attending gatherings, etc.
Her sudden appearance surprised the employees, especially the ones who had been working for more than a decade. They wondered what made her actually visit the company.
As she approached his office, the tension in the air grew thicker.
In a moment of impatience, she abandoned all pretense of etiquette and barged into his office without knocking.
The door flew open with a resounding bang, however, her arrival did not affect Jayden.
He remained composed and continued with his work. His nonchalance demeanor further infuriated Lilian.
Unable to contain her emotions any longer, she walked up to his desk, her eyes blazing with anger, and swept everything on it to the ground.
After Lilian had finished creating a mess in his office, Jayden finally raised his head to look at her. With a long sigh, he rose from his chair and walked towards her.
As Lilian stood before him, she raised her hand intending to slap him. But Jayden swiftly caught her wrist before the slap could land.
“How dare you?” Lilian hissed.
“You don’t want a broken hand in this age,” Jayden cautioned, his tone carrying a hint of warning. “Mother,” His grip was firm yet controlled, and with no change in his expression, he brought her hand to a halt.
Lilian, undeterred by Jayden’s warning grip on her wrist, shrugged his hand off and rubbed her aching wrist. Her defiance was unyielding as she continued to glare at him.
“Do you think your wings have hardened just because you now sit in the CEO’s chair?” “Two minutes,” Lilian snapped her fingers at him twice to emphasize her point. “Within two minutes, I can kick you out of this empire, and you won’t be able to do anything.”
“Do it then,” Jayden replied coolly. “As long as you have the ability.”
“Oh trust me, that day won’t be far.” Lilian made a bold promise.
She pinned her gaze on Jayden’s face, searching for any hint of remorse or emotion. However, all she found was an unsettling indifference and a hint of mockery in his expression.
Seeing that her words had failed to provoke him, Lilian paused before uttering. “I should’ve choked you to death back then.”
Jayden let out a low chuckle, “But you didn’t.” His words held with irony. “Because the position of Madam Luxton was too big of a temptation for you.”
The truth in Jayden’s words cut deep; it was now Lilian’s turn to fall silent.
She couldn’t deny the allure of the Luxton family’s prestige and power. Her ambition and desire for control had driven her to make choices she couldn’t undo, which had brought them to this point.
However, who caused all of these?
If only Keith had been born a few years earlier, then she might not have to bear this humiliation. There would be no Jayden and the Luxton empire would have been her son’s.
But there were no ‘ifs’ in the world.
“What gives you the right to act so highly? Aren’t you afraid of retribution? Just because you’re now the CEO, do you think you have the world under your control?” Lilian questioned.
Jayden did not answer her.
He turned around and walked over to the ceiling-to-floor window. From where he stood, one could see the entire Spring City. The sprawling view before him was a testament to his vast influence and power.
“Do you see that, Mother?” He asked, his eyes fixed on the sprawling cityscape below. “I own everything here. The streets, the people, they all belong to me. Is that still not enough… Mother?”
Every time he addressed her as ‘mother,’ it carried a mocking tone that cut through Lilian’s pride like a knife.
“Don’t forget, Jayden. I’m the one who raised you. If not for me, you wouldn’t have been able to enjoy this glory and prestige.”
“Correction, Mother.” Jayden interrupted her. “It was grandfather who took me in. While you could only watch as your husband’s illegitimate son was being groomed as the next heir.”
“And if by raising you mean abusing a six-year-old boy till he grew up into a teenager, then congratulations, no one did it better than you.”
The animosity between Jayden and Lilian ran deep.
It was a fact that Jayden’s presence had always affected the latter. It was especially so after she gave birth to her child.
On the surface, she may have presented herself as a benevolent mother, but only he knew how vicious her heart was.
The abuse that Jayden had suffered at Lilian’s hands, especially during his childhood, had left deep scars. He had endured her mistreatment for years, and it was only when he grew older and gained the ability to stand up for himself that he broke free from her clutches.
And once Jayden gained control within the Luxton family, the power dynamic between him and Lilian shifted.
It was then she realized she could no longer control the puppet she had once manipulated.
As she watched his back, Lilian couldn’t help but feel a shiver run down her spine when she thought about that. It was a fear she had never experienced before, a realization of how power and ambition had transformed him.
His intense, dark eyes revealed his hunger for domination, and it was obvious that those who opposed him wouldn’t have a good end.
Despite the fear and uncertainty, Lilian remained unyielding. She understood that to secure her son’s future, she and Jayden could never be in the same boat.
The tension between them had reached a breaking point, and there was no return.
“Hand over to me, Jayden,” she ordered.
As the weight of Lilian’s words settled in the room, an eerie silence descended.
Slowly turning to face Lilian, Jayden’s eyes narrowed, and his expression inscrutable. “I don’t understand, mother.”
