Chapter 1172
Chapter 1172
Amelia smiled bitterly. “Thank you. But you can’t help me with this.”
Lucas scratched his head and said, “Then take good care of yourself. No matter what difficulties you encounter, life will always go on. Maybe after a few years, you’ll look back on this and realize this was nothing.”
When they were about to reach the hotel, Lucas looked at the towering building with surprise on his face.
He had thought Amelia was staying in an ordinary hotel, not a high-end one like this!
“You’re staying here?”
“It was arranged by a friend,” Amelia said.
At that moment, Lucas’ stomach made a growling sound.
Lucas smiled in embarrassment and said to Amelia, “Please excuse my stomach. I haven’t had time for dinner yet. Anyway, since you’re at the hotel now, I’ll leave first to check out where I can get food.”
“Let’s go together. I happen to be a little hungry,” Amelia said. There happened to be a small diner in front of them, so they headed there and ordered two plates of pasta.
While Lucas was digging into his pasta, Amelia asked, “Now that you’re here in Lofbury, what about Nadine? Who’s taking care of her?”
“There’s an older woman next door. If I have to be out of town, I will ask her to take care of Nadine. I only need to pay her four hundred as a gesture of appreciation,” Lucas said.
“Aren’t you going to remarry Nadine’s mother?” she asked.
“Well, the very reason we got divorced is because we couldn’t stand each other anymore, so why would I remarry her?” Lucas replied. “Anyway, I can also raise Nadine alone. My only regret is that I can’t give her a complete family.”
Amelia bit her lip slightly as she, too, couldn’t give her children a complete family.
“By the way, I need to stay in Lofbury for a few more days. What about you? When will you go back to Strico? Lucas asked.

“I don’t know, either. Let’s see when my business will be done,” Amelia said.
While they were talking, Lucas received a message on his phone. When he opened it, he found it was a voice message from his daughter. “Daddy, I miss you so much. When will you come back? And don’t forget to buy me a gift!”
Her childish voice was very cute.
Lucas replied to Nadine with a voice message before telling Amelia, “Before I left, I promised her I would buy her a gift that would make her happy. But I don’t know what to buy. What kind of things can make children at this age happy?”
His lack of ideas when it came to a gift had Lucas feeling a little troubled.
“Well, when are you free? Let me go with you to pick a gift for Nadine. I also want to get her one,” Amelia said.
“I… It’s already good enough that you are willing to accompany me in picking gifts. How can I make you pay for it?” Lucas said.
“I like Nadine very much, so I don’t mind spending money on her. Besides, you have helped me a lot,” Amelia said. “All right, it’s settled then. Just let me know when you are free.”
After they finished their meal, Lucas escorted Amelia to the door of hotel. “Then I’ll contact you again to pick a gift for Nadine.”
“Okay.” Amelia smiled.
They stood in front of the hotel, without noticing that a pair of eyes we staring at them in a car parked not far away.
Warren suddenly felt ridiculous. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
What was wrong with him? When he left earlier, he kept telling himself not to care about Amelia. Even if he had loved this woman deeply before, it was all in the past now.
Yet, her pale cheeks and broken expression kept appearing in his mind’s eye, which made it difficult for him to calm down. His chest also felt tight.
Hence, he ordered the driver to head to the hotel.
However, when he actually arrived there, he wondered what he was doing there. Did he want to see Amelia?
Shouldn’t he disdain the woman?
Just like that, he sat in the car, feeling as if there were two forces pulling at him.
But what surprised him more was the sight of her with another man.
It was Lucas!
If his memory served him right, Lucas already had a good relationship with her back when they were in Strico. Then, they had now appeared together in Lofbury. What kind of relationship did she have with Lucas?
This woman had been begging him bitterly more than an hour ago, yet less than two hours later, she was smiling sweetly at another man.
An uncomfortable feeling spread in his heart, as if something was eating away at it. Besides that, he also felt angry.
Then again, why was he angry?
Was he mad at her for smiling at another man like that?
The driver in the front row was trembling with fear as he felt that the air pressure inside the car seemed to have lowered.
When the driver peeked at Warren’s cold and hostile expression, he was shocked.
He wondered, “Is Mr. York angry?”
Warren watched as Amelia said goodbye to Lucas before entering the hotel while Lucas headed across the road. Seeing that, he ordered the driver, “Follow that man in the gray coat. I want to know where he’s staying now.”
After saying that, Warren got out of the car and walked into the hotel. The driver started the car slowly and followed Lucas.
Amelia returned to her hotel room, took off her coat, and walked into the bathroom tiredly.
She had only been out for a few hours, but she felt so tired. Riley’s matter was like a huge rock crushing her chest, making it hard for her to breathe.

Regardless, her run-in with Lucas today was somewhat comforting.
Lofbury, where she grew up, had somehow become foreign to her at some point in time, so meeting Lucas was like seeing a familiar face in a crowd.
Amelia smiled bitterly. Sometime over the next few days, she would need to help Lucas buy a gift for Nadine.
Upon recalling Nadine’s cute appearance, she looked down at her raised abdomen. She wondered if her baby would be as adorable.
It would be even better if the baby were a girl. She could braid the girl’s hair and buy beautiful little dresses for her.
Aiden was a boy, so she always had a little regret when it came to dressing him up.
After washing, Amelia put on her nightgown and walked out of the bathroom.
The moment she walked out of the bathroom, she halted in her tracks in dumbfounded astonishment as she looked at Warren, who was sitting on the sofa beside the coffee table.
