The CEO’s Hidden Love Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires

Chapter 233

Chapter 233

Kenneth naturally wanted to take the suitcase from Everett's hands on behalf of Dorothy.

Yet, as he reached out, Everett didn't loosen his grip.

Thus, they stood there in a deadlock.

The evening breeze brushed past them, ruffling Everett's fine hair. He laughed lightly as he coldly said, "No trouble at all in helping my wife."

Kenneth fell silent.

Fearing that the two men might start a quarrel, Dorothy hurriedly said, "Kenneth, please take the stuff upstairs. I've been packing all day, and I'm tired."

"Sure." Kenneth raised his eyebrows with a victorious smirk playing on his lips as he turned and retreated into the house with Dorothy.

Everett was left standing alone. He was frozen in place for a long while.

Finally, he returned to his car, retrieved a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, and lit one up. His gaze remained fixed on the floor of the house where Dorothy was staying.

He was torturing himself, waiting to see if Kenneth would stay the night.

As the cigarette was nearing its end, the ash fell onto the back of his hand. The burning ember seared his skin, yet he barely flinched. His focus never wavered.

Time ticked by.

No one came out.

A throbbing pain emerged at Everett's temples. His blood roiled and surged as if it were flowing backwards within him.

He couldn't accept that Dorothy had feelings for another man and that she was soon to belong to someone else.

Everett stubbed out his cigarette on his palm, trying to distract himself with the sharp pain in an attempt to cool down, but it didn't work.

Eventually, he got out of the car, and his long strides carried him towards the entrance of the residential block.

Just as he entered, he heard a voice from above that sounded like Dorothy's.© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

"Yes. For... I'd do anything. I just want... by my side from now on."

Everett froze in place, feeling as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over him. A piercing cold seeped into his bones.

Was she talking about Kenneth? She actually liked Kenneth to this extent?!

Even now, Everett didn't want to use the word love' to describe their relationship. He felt that like' was more appropriate.

The pain was so intense that he could hardly breathe.

Everett clutched at his chest. The overwhelming pain almost suffocated him.

Suddenly, he heard footsteps above.

Kenneth's voice soon followed. "You haven't left yet?"

Everett glanced up at him with eyes filled with hatred and jealousy.

Yes, even he, Everett, was capable of feeling such emotions.

But unlike him, Kenneth looked more shocked than anything.

He didn't know how much Everett had overheard.

"Mr. Lopez, eavesdropping isn't exactly an appealing habit."

"Until the divorce is final, she's still my wife."

"

"That's true." Kenneth laughed lightly as he nonchalantly shrugged. "So here I am, not staying with her. Rest assured, if you can respect her, so can I. Whatever you can provide for her, I can too."

Realizing that Everett probably hadn't heard their discussion about the child, Kenneth visibly relaxed. "But I still have to thank you for taking care of her in the past."

"Kenneth, if you dare treat her badly..."

"There's no way I would treat her badly after going through so much trouble to be with her." Kenneth cut him off. "Just remember to return her to me early tomorrow."

With that, Kenneth walked past him, heading straight for the exit, trying to lead him away.

He didn't dare linger here any longer, for fear that Everett might overhear something he shouldn't.
