The Cherished Wife

Chapter 272

“Married? That’s impossible!” Xavier shot to his feet. “That’s impossible… Noelle may hate me, but she would never get married to another man just to get back at me. She’s still in love with me. She…”

“That’s enough. I don’t have time for your convoluted dating history. Ms. Shaw has already claimed to have nothing to do with you, and you should stop harassing her late at night. I think you should just call either of your parents or your fiancee and have them drop by. It’s getting late.”

Xavier dropped back onto the bench, a dazed look on his face. Several minutes passed before he dialed Emilia’s number, his movements robotic.

By the time Emilia and Joseph rushed over, Xavier was still sitting on the bench inside the station, seemingly in some sort of trance. Emilia flew into a panic when she saw Xavier sitting dazedly on the bench. “Xavier! Xavier, are you alright?! Don’t scare me!” Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

“Mom!” Xavier looked up woodenly at Emilia. “Mom, she’s abandoned me. Mom, she really doesn’t want me anymore…”

“B*stard!” Joseph cried out as he slapped Xavier across the face. “You worthless piece of trash! Is it worth being this sad over a woman? You even ended up in the police station because of her! You’re really something else!”

Joseph slapped Xavier again, and Emilia cried out as she stood in front of him. “That’s enough. He’s all grown up now. Why are you slapping him?”

“He’ll never learn his lesson unless I slap it into him,” Joseph said as he gritted his teeth together. “I’d like to see how he deals with this mess if the Shaw family gets involved as well!”

“Haha!” Xavier sneered. “What is there for me to deal with? Worst case scenario, I’ll call of the engagement to Winter. After all, I never planned…”

“B*stard!” Joseph went to slap Xavier again, but the police officers stopped him. “If you want to educate your son, please do it at home. This isn’t the place for you to be causing a scene. You’ve got gall, beating people up in front of the police!”

“Officer, I… My husband just got ahead of himself,” Emilia said as she hurriedly reached out to grab Joseph’s arm. “What do you think we should do?”

“Let’s just forget it. It’s nothing major, anyway. But do keep an eye on your son. The fact he’s causing trouble at someone else’s home is rather outrageous.”

“Yes, sir,” Emilia hurriedly said. “Well give him a good talking–to!”

Once the family of three got into their car, Joseph slapped Xavier so hard across the face that his features nearly shifted from the force. “You’ve got some gall, even daring to go to their house now! I’m warning you! You and Winter’s engagement is final, and I’ll disown you if you dare call it off!”

“Dad, you…” Xavier began angrily, as he curled his hands into fists. “Why do you keep forcing me to do things? Why do you keep forcing this on me?”

Xavier’s blood pressure shot up whenever he recalled Noelle saying that she had a new man and that she had even told the police officer that the man was her husband. “Noelle’s the one I want as my wife.”

“Be a man! Are you really going to risk everything for the sake of feelings?!” Joseph was a rational man. If asked to choose between love, money, and power, he would choose the last two without hesitation. “Do you think you’ll still have to worry about not having a woman you’re interested in once you take over the Shaw family and City Ring Corp.?”
