Chapter 183
Chapter 183
Deanna stormed back home, peeved to the core. Cordelia and Ronan seemed to be getting along like
a house on fire.
As she was tidying up, she realized that her assistant had once again forgotten to put her compact
powder in her makeup bag. Enraged, Deanna gave her assistant a piece of her mind over the phone
and ended the call with, "Don't bother showing up for work tomorrow!"
When Leila inquired, Deanna snapped back, "Don't even get me started. They're as thick as thieves."
"Well, keep an eye on Cordelia. Maybe you can spot a chink in her armor."
"First things first, I need a new assistant. I've got an early call time for a new gig tomorrow. Where on
earth am I gonna find one?" Deanna fumed.
Just as Deanna was feeling out of her depth, a light bulb went off in her head. That sales assistant. She
was meticulous and a fan of Deanna's.
Deanna quickly dug out her business card and gave her a call. Samantha happily agreed to drop by
Deanna's place.
"I've gone through more than a dozen assistants in the last year. Not one of them made the cut. How
about a month-long trial period, room and board included, for 10 grand?" Deanna crossed her arms,
eyeing Samantha.
"Sounds good," Samantha agreed, taken aback at how quickly her wish came true. The pay was a
major step up, plus she got room and board. The icing on the cake was that Deanna was Cordelia's
rival. So, taking down Cordelia would be a walk in the park with Deanna's fame backing her up.
Samantha wouldn't even have to lift a finger. The thought of it had Samantha tightening her grip.
She was in Millstone, on the brink of turning over a new leaf.
"Oh, by the way, Ms. Deanna, I have a cousin that I've been at odds with since we were kids. I saw you
guys together the other day. Can you exclude me if there's any event involving her?" Samantha put on
a pitiful face.
Deanna frowned, "Your cousin? What's her name?"
"Cordelia. She bought a belt from me last time. I'd rather not serve her." Samantha put on an aggrieved
face. "Even though she's my cousin, she actually isn't."
Deanna thought to herself, "What are the odds? She's Cordelia's cousin?"
"What did you just say? What do you mean by she isn't?" Deanna asked Samantha, eager for more
details.
"Well, Cordelia isn't really my cousin. She's a child my uncle brought home from outside, apparently
from a prostitute. My uncle said she was my aunt's child, but none of us ever saw my aunt pregnant. I
overheard this from my parents. And remember Ms. Deanna, this secret stays between us," Samantha
said, while secretly thinking that this secret was her weapon against Cordelia. If she shared it with
Deanna, she could let Deanna stir the pot, making things much easier.
The only thing Samantha could do was to spill the beans to Lumos Enterprises on the day she
resigned. The front desk was buzzing with this gossip on the day Cordelia made the payment in the Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
lobby. However, Cordelia assumed it was just petty gossip.
"You're not pulling my leg, are you?" Deanna's eyes lit up instantly.
"Uh-huh. If you don't believe me, you can ask my aunt."
Armed with this secret about Cordelia, Deanna was more than thrilled. Cordelia's father had once
donated his cornea to Ronan, but now, the identity of Cordelia's real father was a mystery. How could
she have the audacity to claim to be Ronan's savior?
Whether or not Ronan was in on this, Deanna was determined to make him realize that his wife's
biological mother was nothing more than a prostitute, far beneath his level and his family's!
