Chapter 226
Chapter 226
Cordelia wished she could ignore the noise and continue sleeping, but it was too loud, and she
couldn't. She got up, slipped into her robe, and went next door.
Ronan's bedroom door was open, and his phone was ringing over and over, but he wasn't there. He
was probably taking a shower in the bathroom. Cordelia rapped on the bathroom door. “Your phone’s
ringing.”
There was no response, so he probably didn't hear her. Cordelia knocked louder. "Ronan, your phone's
ringing."
He pulled open the bathroom door, appearing in front of Cordelia. At a glance, Cordelia saw the
intimate parts of his body. She tried to keep her gaze on his face. They were practically divorced now,
and he belonged to another woman. Cordelia shouldn't be looking.
"What's up?" He asked, standing nonchalantly with the door wide open.
"Your phone's been ringing over and over. It's keeping me awake."
"Answer it if it rings again." He said and shut the door.
Cordelia stood outside, a little annoyed and confused.
The phone rang again. Cordelia went over to check it, and it was Deanna. She didn't want to answer at
first, but seeing that Deanna had called over a dozen times, she figured something might have been
urgent. This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Hello?" Cordelia answered the phone.
"Where's Ronan?" Deanna sounded surprised to hear Cordelia's voice. Her tone also carried a hint of
hostility.
"Oh, he's in the shower."
"In the shower?"
"Yes, what's up?"
"Tomorrow night, my current film is wrapping up, and I've invited Ronan to the wrap party. Could you
tell him about it later and see if he can come? He should. I've already mentioned it to him. I just wanted
to confirm." Deanna's voice had a hint of resistance towards Cordelia, deliberately showing her
relationship with Ronan in front of Cordelia.
"Oh, no need to ask, I'll accept on his behalf," Cordelia said.
"Great." Deanna sounded thrilled. She knew that after the incident with Adrian and Cordelia's mother,
even if Ronan was interested, Cordelia might not have been.
Indeed, Cordelia was already starting to push Ronan towards someone else.
Deanna wanted him, Cordelia wanted to push him away, and it seemed that everyone was blessing
Deanna and Ronan's relationship, even Cordelia, his ex-wife.
Just as Cordelia put his phone back on the table, Ronan came out wrapped in a towel. "Who was it?"
He asked.
"Deanna invited you to her film wrap party tomorrow night." Cordelia looked at Ronan, her face
expressionless.
Ronan picked up the phone to call Deanna back.
"You don't need to call her back. I've already accepted for you," Cordelia said, looking at Ronan. They
stared at each other for ten seconds, the air filled with tension.
"Don't forget to bring my stuff back tomorrow, I have class," Cordelia said, before heading back to her
room to sleep.
The next day, she got up as late as possible to have breakfast with Barney, Ronan had already gone to
work.
"Barney, I told Ronan yesterday that I'll be staying home with you for a while. But I'll have to take online
classes due to the time difference, so I will be spending less time with you during the day." Cordelia
always spoke to Barney with kindness.
"That's okay, as long as you’re at home, I'm happy," Barney said, smiling at Cordelia.
In the afternoon, Ronan's driver brought back Cordelia's suitcase.
Cordelia set up her laptop, logged into her school's website, took a short nap, and prepared to pull an
all-nighter for class. She started sleeping after dinner and woke up at eleven. It was still early in the
States, and she had one more class to attend, so she quickly grabbed a cup to get some water
downstairs.
Just as she reached the living room, there was a knock on the door. As Cordelia was getting water from
the dispenser, she saw who it was.
Ronan and Deanna came in. Ronan was dressed in a steel-grey shirt, and Deanna in a silvery white
mermaid gown.
Cordelia saw them and turned back to get her water.
"Ronan, thank you for attending my wrap party tonight," Deanna said. looking at Cordelia's back.
As Cordelia turned to go upstairs with her water, her peripheral vision caught Deanna kissing Ronan's
cheek.
Ronan glanced at Cordelia, who went upstairs without showing any emotion. He immediately put his
arm around Deanna's waist. "Call me for these kinds of events in the future."
"Sure." Deanna was absolutely thrilled. It seemed that Ronan and Cordelia's relationship had already
broken down. The only reason they hadn't divorced yet was out of consideration for Barney.
