The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 245

Chapter 245

Ronan had been holding the brewed medicine, and Cordelia was staring at the cup as if in a trance.

"What would I have done to resort to such desperate measures?" he asked Cordelia.

Caught off guard by Ronan's penetrating question, Cordelia suddenly felt her face flush. If he hadn't

resorted to desperate measures but indeed had personally made the herbal tea for her, she should be

grateful.

"Thank you." Cordelia finally let out a sigh of relief and started drinking the medicine.

Ronan watched her until she finished the last sip. "Sleep now." He took the cup from her and turned off

the light for her.

Cordelia heard him go to the kitchen before returning to the room next door. Only then did she fall

asleep. Perhaps the medicine Dr. Krueger prescribed to her contained a sleep aid because she fell

asleep quickly.

When she woke up, she felt much lighter.

Cordelia immediately felt her stomach, which seemed normal. Then, she sent the two prescriptions Dr.

Krueger had given her to Victoria, asking her to check if there was anything unusual about them.

Victoria didn't respond immediately, possibly busy with work or consulting a coworker. She was

studying obstetrics and gynecology, so she might not have understood this herbal medicine.

Cordelia took her phone to the dining table.

Ronan hadn't gone to work. He was sitting at the table, probably having just woken up. As soon as

Cordelia sat down, he put his hand on her forehead. His hand was warm, and Cordelia felt a tingling

sensation all over her body when he touched her. "No fever," he mumbled to himself.

"Hmm."

"Did you sweat last night after taking the medicine?" he asked casually while eating a dumpling.

"Uh-huh, it's almost all better now." Although Cordelia felt better, she felt weak and shaky. Her hand

trembled as she picked up a sausage. The sausages were so small. At this moment, Ronan picked up

a sausage for her and placed it on the small plate in front of her.

Cordelia was a bit startled. A warm feeling surged from her heart, but then she thought of her mother,

Adrian's plight, and Kendra's dead child, all thanks to this man.

"Where's Janice?" Cordelia asked Ronan while eating her sausage.

"She went out to get your medicine."

Cordelia continued eating her sausage and sipping her cereal. Her phone buzzed a few times. Cordelia

didn't react at first, lost in her thoughts. NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.

Ronan only glanced at it, and the content on Cordelia's phone screen entered his sight. The sender

was Victoria. [Cordelia, I asked an experienced herbal medicine practitioner at our hospital. He said

these are all herbal medicines for treating colds and flu, and whoever prescribed them was very careful

they do not harm pregnant women. You should be safe.]

Cordelia suddenly remembered that it might have been a message from Victoria. By the time she

looked at her phone, she found that Ronan had already seen it. He might not have been able to read

the entire content from the phone's screen, but being as smart as he was, he certainly guessed it. She

looked awkward and extremely embarrassed.

"If you continue to be so paranoid, be careful I might really abort your babies!" Ronan growled.

Cordelia shuddered at his words. It seemed like he could read her thoughts like an open book. Living

with him, she felt constantly on edge. Cordelia thought many times to tell him the truth to avoid the

constant worry, but thinking of her mother's death, she couldn't reconcile with it.

Janice returned, breaking the tense atmosphere between them. "Cordelia, I'll go prepare your

medicine," Janice said cheerfully before heading into the kitchen.

Cordelia felt cooped up at home all day. Ronan was also often home, keeping her constantly on edge,

which wasn't good for the twins in her womb.

Cordelia wanted to go out, but she was afraid of a repeat incident like when Manda pushed her. If she

fell and hurt herself, it could be catastrophic. After all, she was carrying twins and was much heavier

than usual.

"Can you get me a car and a driver?" After some thought, Cordelia made a request to Ronan.

"Planning to go out?" Ronan asked her.

"Not just today, but in the future. I can't stay cooped up here twenty-four hours a day, can I? I have

work to do too." Cordelia responded.

Ronan looked her up and down, his gaze landing on her belly. Then he drawled, "Are you very worried

about these two babies?"
