The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 249

Chapter 249

After dinner, Janice did the dishes while Ronan and Emerson chatted in the living room. Cordelia,

however, retreated to her room.

The failure to secure the PrimeBuild Contractors project, along with the constant criticism about her

lack of academic qualifications, was causing Cordelia's anxiety to escalate. Once the babies arrived

next year, she was determined to earn her Master's degree, no matter what.

She decided to write in her diary; there was plenty to record from her day. As she was thinking of what

to jot down, her pen clattered to the floor. Trying to bend down to pick it up, Cordelia found herself

unable to. She attempted to stand, but her legs trembled, and she broke into a sweat.

"Janice, Janice..." she called out from her room.

Janice was in the kitchen doing the dishes, and with the running faucet and the distance between the

rooms, she couldn't hear Cordelia.

Feeling like a cat on a hot tin roof, Cordelia was about to lose her patience when Ronan walked into

her room. "My pen...I can't pick it up," Cordelia said, her gaze fixated on the fallen pen.

Once so agile, she found it embarrassing to ask for help for such a minor thing.

Ronan noticed the pen and picked it up for her. "What are you doing?" he asked.

"Writing in my diary," she replied.

Glancing at her diary, the word "Masters" caught Ronan's eye. Without a word, he left the room.

Just as Cordelia was closing her diary, she got a call. It was from Will, whom she had called earlier in

the day. The CEO of PrimeBuild Contractors was calling her personally? She answered the phone

immediately. "Hello, Mr. Will. This is Cordelia from First Enterprises," she said politely.

"Oh, Cordelia. I was in a meeting when you called this afternoon. You wanted to audit our company,

right? We're swamped during the year-end rush. Why don't you come over tomorrow, and we can

discuss it in detail?"

"Sure, how does 10 am sound?"

"Fine, meet me directly in the conference room. Hunter will also join us to discuss financial matters."

Once the call ended, the previous gloom disappeared from Cordelia’s face. However, thinking about

Hunter's attitude towards her earlier, she couldn't help but feel anxious. She was afraid he would speak

ill of her in front of Will, pointing out her lack of professionalism due to her young age.

Cordelia sent a message to Tristi. [Can you accompany me to PrimeBuild Contractors tomorrow

morning?]

[I'm sorry, Mrs. Evans, my kid is sick. I'm at the hospital with him. Why don't you ask Mr. Evans if he

can arrange another car for you?]

Cordelia was disappointed. Since Ronan was still discussing business with Emerson in the living room

and Cordelia was tired, it would have to wait until tomorrow.

The next morning, she sent a message to Ronan as soon as she woke up. [Have you left?]

[No.]

[Can you wait for me?"

She quickly put on her clothes and headed to the living room.

Ronan, fresh from his morning routine, was seated at the breakfast table. "What's up?" he asked as he

rolled up his sleeves.

"I need a driver today. Tristi's kid is sick, and she can't make it. Can you arrange one for me?" she

asked as she sat down for breakfast.

"Where to?" Ronan asked nonchalantly.

"PrimeBuild Contractors. Their CEO called me yesterday and asked me to come over," Cordelia

couldn't hide the excitement in her voice.

"Okay," Ronan replied indifferently before starting his breakfast.

Cordelia was anxious. It was already half-past eight. Even if he found a driver, they would still have to

navigate through the morning rush hour traffic.

Halfway through breakfast, she couldn't hold back anymore. "Have you found a driver?"

"I did." © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

"Who?"

"Me."

Cordelia was taken aback.
