The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 290

Chapter 290

It was pouring rain today with thunder rumbling in the distance. Yet, the soundproofing in the private

room of the club was quite good, so none of the patrons inside noticed.

Ronan approached the door.

"Mr. Evans, it's raining. Here's an umbrella." A waiter stood there offering an umbrella.

"No need." Ronan declined and headed to the front of the club, getting into his car.

Looking at time, it was already eleven at night. She was probably asleep by now. Ever since she got

pregnant, she had been sleeping early and waking up late.

But he hoped she hadn't fallen asleep. He hoped she was waiting for him, keeping the door open.

His car headed towards Garden Estates.

......

The thunderous sound and the pouring rain outside made Cordelia restless. Her baby was kicking

fiercely, and the twins were tumbling around inside her. She was worried about Ronan. She knew he

hadn't taken an umbrella today and was worried he might have gotten drenched in the rain. Despite her

anxiety, she wanted to appear indifferent and didn't call him. Moreover, he had gone to a club, a place

she didn't really care about.

She paced around the room, accidentally knocking her hand against the corner of the desk, an

immediate bruise forming on the back of her hand.

Feeling restless, she started writing in her diary about his lack of an umbrella, her worry for him, and

her conflicting feelings of wanting to care but not showing it. After finishing her writing, he still hadn't

returned.

When she heard the sound of the door unlocking, Cordelia hurriedly got into bed. She didn't want him

to know she was worried. She closed her eyes, lying on her side towards the door, quietly listening to

the noises outside.

He opened the door, changed his shoes at the entrance, and entered the room without turning on the

light. She was already asleep, not waiting up for him as he had hoped. Ronan went to wash up in the

bathroom outside.

Half an hour later, Ronan got into bed, turned on the light, and fell asleep holding Cordelia.

Cordelia knew all of this. She didn't sleep well that night.

The next day when he was getting dressed, she knew. He lightly flicked Cordelia's face, then went to

the kitchen to eat.

"Mr. Evans, what time did you get home last night?" Janice asked Ronan at the breakfast table.

"Almost midnight. What time did Cordelia go to bed?" Ronan asked.

"It was raining heavily last night, so she went back to her room early. Even though she was in her room,

I don't think she slept well, torturing herself like that. She's worried about you but doesn't voice it out,

poor girl." Janice explained.

"Really?" Ronan asked. He didn't believe it.

"Yes, I got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and heard her pacing in her room. If not for

you, then for whom?" Janice tried her best to bridge the gap between the two. In reality, she hadn't

gotten up at all last night. This was a fabrication to make Ronan happy.

"Oh, by the way, what were you doing at the club last night?" Janice asked.

"Are you asking me?" Ronan questioned.

"Of course not, Cordelia wanted to know." Janice explained for Cordelia.

"If she wants to know, she can ask me herself when she wakes up." Ronan said.

Janice fell silent.

Ronan continued eating. As he was about to leave after eating, Cordelia emerged from the bedroom.

She hadn't slept well last night and looked drained. "Are you leaving?" Cordelia asked him.

"Yes." Ronan answered. His sentence seemed complete. It’s like he’s waiting for Cordelia to ask him

something else.

"Cordelia, weren't you wondering what Mr. Evans was up to last night? He's right here. Ask him

yourself." Janice added fuel to the fire.

"I..." Cordelia frowned slightly, hesitating to ask. She didn't want Ronan to know how much she cared

about him.

"Grant wanted to meet me about something last night." Ronan answered for Cordelia, "Anything else

you want to know?"

Cordelia was at a loss for words.

"Alright, I'm leaving." Ronan said, grabbing his car keys, and was ready to head out the door.

"What happened to your hand?" Ronan noticed a bruise on Cordelia's hand.

"It's nothing. I just bumped it last night." Cordelia replied.

"Were you restless last night?" Ronan asked her.

Cordelia nodded. Content © NôvelDrama.Org.

"Because of me?" Ronan asked again.

Cordelia remained silent.

Throughout the morning, Cordelia was caught off guard three times, unable to voice her feelings.

However, Ronan seemed to have read her thoughts perfectly. Cordelia should have never moved in.

Once she did, he saw right through her.

Ronan chuckled, ruffling Cordelia's hair before heading out the door.
