Chapter 55 The good son
“Nothing! I noticed that you haven’t eaten anything yet! Why?”. I asked fiddling for her response.
The furious look disappeared the moment I asked her, “nothing, don’t worry so much!”. She turns her back at me.
“Okay, but tell me why don’t you feel like eating? are you okay?” Once more I asked.
” Look Salem, I am fine, you don’t need to get worried about me, I’ll be okay, just leave me alone so I can think!”. She backed me altering that out.
Apparently, after a while, I listened and left per her instruction. I veered and saw Riya standing behind, she falls her eyes elsewhere thus watched me leave, I know she was still mad at the incident that happened the other day.
THE FOLLOWING MORNING
(8:00pm)
I got up from bed and head down for breakfast, the chairs at the dining table were seated on and the one left was next to Riya who kept a straight face at me.
“Good morning Salam? Hope you slept well”. Elena finally noticed my presence there.
I sat down and turned my eyes to her, donning a smile on, “yes ma’am, I did, thank you”.
Riya instantly got up from where she was seated and walked upstairs to her room, Elena noticed strange behavior and shoots a suspicious look at me as I tried so hard not to get choked up by her intense gaze, afterwards, we left for the office.
The whole day passed by, yet I had this hutch that something or someone was in danger but who?, I asked myself.© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
Elena asked me to go back home and get a few documents for her, I drove back home, walked through the front door, and saw the living room was quiet as a graveyard.
“Where’s everyone?” I asked towering my eyes around.
I walked into Elena’s room and ambled out after getting the documents she asked me to, I was two-step closer to the front door when I noticed a strange aura around me, the hutch I feel kept getting stronger, something Is indeed not right.
Hence the second I took a step outside, I heard a glass scatter on the floor, which got my attention.
“Who’s there!”. I returned into the house, looming my eyes around.
No one seems to alter a word to me, thus when I attempted to leave once again, Riya yelled out my name.
“Salem, help me”.
Quickly I rushed over to her room and saw she was tied up to her bed.
“Riya, what’s going on?’ i asked ambling closer to her, “hmmm” she tires to gain my attention that someone else was in the room, but when I got to understand the terrified look on her face, a vase was smashed on my head, as I fell unconscious.
I had no idea what happened but when I got myself, I glimpsed that I was bundled to a place I had no idea off, Riya sobs softly with her gaze fixed downwards.
“Riya! Are you okay?”.
That was a foolish question to ask but it was the only thing my head could think of.
She lifts her gaze and trembled her head in displeasure, “no, I am not okay, who are they and why were did they kidnap us?. Riya asked me a question, I feel Elena has the answers to.
Not quite long, an elderly man walks in and met us at our tied-up positions.
He wears a devilish smile and veers closer to us, “who are you?” I asked in curiosity.
The man turns to me and said, “you need not worry about who I am but worry about your lives when Elena Khan refuses to give in to my demands”.
