Chapter 1964

Chapter 1964 Leah’s Suicide Attempt

But before Cindy could find her pictures with Ian on the internet, she came across another news article.

While the news article wasn’t particularly groundbreaking, it still garnered volumes, and it didn’t take

much browsing for it to turn up on Cindy’s news feed.

The news had Ian’s name marked as one of its keywords, but the actual content had nothing to do with

him. In fact, the character spotlighted in the article was Leah, who was said to have leaped off a

building after she grew sick and found living nothing but torture.

The news also mentioned her two children, and while Sally had already gone abroad, Simon was

having a hard time finding a proper job. All in all, the three of them did not have it easy.

As for the reason behind Leah’s attempted suicide, the article brought up several theories, most of

which surrounded Bryce’s will and the distribution of the family fortune.

The discourse on the will and the distribution of the family fortune had already come to an end on the

internet, so everyone knew who had gotten the biggest share and who had gotten nothing at all. It was

no wonder then that Leah would resort to such desperate measures of escapism.

The article also mentioned Ian and Sean, claiming that after they had taken their shares of the family

fortune, they did not spare Leah and her children any more thought, leaving them to perish on their

own.

Upon reading this, Cindy quickly perused the comments to see what the public thought about such an

accusation, hoping fervently that it wouldn’t affect Ian’s reputation while he was on the rise.

After scanning the comments, she let out a sigh of relief. Regarding the claim that Ian couldn’t care less

about Leah and her children, a majority of the readers were empathetic; they were of the opinion that

no one on Leah’s side had stepped up for Ian when he was caught in all those scandals.

More importantly, Ian had always been a working actor who lived away from home, so he was never

technically under Leah’s care at all. To be brutally honest, Bryce never took much care of him, either.

With all that said, it was only normal for Ian to be indifferent toward Leah’s plight after the whole will

debacle.

As for Sean, there wasn't too much adversity against him in the comments section, and most of the

readers agreed that his mother had suffered, too. No one could blame him if he had any resentment

toward the women Bryce had brought home after his mother.

Presently, there was no telling who was at fault for the chaos that erupted within the Morgan Family.

The news article did not mention if Leah survived the fall from the building, but there was a likelihood

that she did, given that she had supposedly been hospitalized.

Cindy kept her phone after reading through the article and the comments, then looked up in Ian’s

direction once more. She pursed her lips, suddenly looking grim. I don’t think he knows about this just

yet. After hesitating, she thought he would be better off never hearing about the news.

After all, he was busier now than ever, and she didn’t want to distract him with such inane gossip.

But a while later, she decided to send Aurora the link to the news article and briefed her on how the

internet was responding to it. Aurora was probably busy on her end.

Ian didn’t get off work until it was nightfall. He was walking over to where the driver was while pressing

his phone to his ear, waiting for Cindy to pick up the other line.

Cindy’s phone rang, but instead of answering right away, she stared at Ian from a distance.

Still holding the phone to his ear, he frowned when he realized that there seemed no sign of his call

being put through any time soon. Barely a few seconds had passed when he turned and caught sight of

Cindy. He grinned instantly and hung up the phone, then walked up to her in long strides.

“When did you get here? You should have given me a heads up,” he greeted with bright eyes.

She reached for his hand. “I was here hours ago, and I was watching you film your scenes.”

He raised a brow as he asked in mock seriousness, “What do you think of my acting, Director Selby?”

She paused in thought. “Well, I think you did pretty well, but I think you’d do better if you stopped This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .

looking like you’re head over heels for the female lead.”

She burst into laughter as soon as she said that, but Ian merely ruffled her hair affectionately without

offering a reply.

They headed for the hotel, but when they were halfway there, Cindy tugged on Ian’s arm and led him in

a different direction.

A little surprised, Ian asked, “What’s wrong? Where are we going?”

She was a little amused by what was about to happen as she said mysteriously, “There’s someone I’d

like you to meet. She’s a close friend of mine, and I think you guys ought to get to know each other for

a bit.”

There was no way that he would fall for her nonsense, but he played along and asked with good

humor, “Really? Is she someone senior to you whom I should add to my network?”
