The Returning EX (John and Sophia)

Chapter 2057

Chapter 2057

Chapter 2057 It’s a Big Day

However, even though Leah had insisted that she sustained all those injuries on her own, the hospital

still filed a police report.

They had to do it in fear that she would someday blame the hospital for her failure to file a police report.

After they were informed about it, the police came swiftly. Even they couldn't do anything after asking

Leah for the specifics as they only received the same explanation that she had given to the doctor. The

police didn't have a choice but to go through the procedure with her so that they could take it as if the

issue had been resolved.

It was only just a few days ago that Leah was comfortably resting in bed without needing checkups or

medication. However, it was a different situation now; her current state needed injections and medicine

on top of requiring someone to apply medicine on her face. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

As she lay in bed, she kept staring at the ceiling with no emotion showing on her face. Instead, her

eyes had a little fear, and a lot of hatred swimming in them.

She might be scared, but her fear was no stronger than her resentment.

She hated everyone. She especially hated Bryce. That damn old man didn't hesitate to do this to me,

she fumed. I actually sacrificed my youth, only to get stabbed in the back.

If Bryce had gone steady with his tactics, Leah wouldn't have had to live her life like this. Sally and

Simon also wouldn't have left home either.

It was all Bryce's fault that everything had gone south.

Clenching her jaw, she was finally hit by regret at the thought that she should have been crueler and

greedier in snatching his properties.

It was her own fault for not planning far ahead and thinking that he would definitely have left some of

his assets to her.

Leah never had imagined that she would end up with nothing in her possession.

After a while, she turned her head to look between the IV bag and at her hand that the saline solution

was flowing into.

Realization suddenly dawned on her that the worst thing wasn't that she hadn't received a share of

Bryce's property, but rather it was that she had arrived at a place where she was alone.

She didn't even know where her only son and daughter were.

Even if she had died out there today, she knew that no one would know about it.

On the other hand, Ian and Cindy left home early the next morning. They took their chance to pack and

leave when Aurora was still deep asleep.

While they were on the road, they kept worrying about the reason they should give Aurora if she were

to call and ask them whether they had their breakfast or not

No matter what excuses they came up with, it felt like their lies could be seen through yet they were

both exhilarated.

Ian told the driver of the cab that they had boarded to bring them to the Civil Affairs Bureau. Seemingly

knowing what the youngsters were planning to do there, the driver peeked at them through the

rearview mirror and let out a chuckle.

Cindy was still excited as she sat in the car. She even thought about how Ian had woken her up early in

the morning to urge her to freshen up before they sneaked out.

She could tell from his mannerism that he wasn't acting on impulse—he really intended to take her as

his wife.

The Civil Affairs Bureau was still closed since they had arrived before the opening hours.

Aurora could have overslept or discovered what they were going to do, but she had never called once.

Then, Ian and Cindy alighted from the vehicle and waited in front of the bureau's entrance.

The place had almost seemed deserted because of how empty it was in the early hours of the day.

Wrapping his arms around her from behind before he plopped his chin on her shoulder, Ian announced,

"We are the first one here. That means that we will be the first to register and get our certificate."

After saying that, he pecked Cindy's cheek. "Oh, right. What do you feel like eating today to celebrate

the occasion?"

They had arrived here in such a rush that they missed breakfast, but they hardly felt hungry due to their

excitement.

She then used her hand to gently cover his hands that were on top of hers. "Anything is fine. We can

go for whatever you like, but, can you please wear your mask? What are you going to do if other

people see your face?"

"There isn't even anyone around. Masks are so uncomfortable to wear." Even though he was

grumbling, he obediently took out a mask from his pocket as he laughed.

They stood at the entrance and waited for the office to open. There weren't a lot of couples who came

to register because it wasn't a particularly special day.

A few couples came and queued up behind them, but because they were all engrossed in their

partners, none of them took notice of Ian and Cindy.
