Chapter 2224
Chapter 2224
Sure enough, Heinz had caught Sebastian's weakness. Heinz asked, "From what you said, you haven't encountered any problems with your studies, so does it mean that you're having problems with something else?"
Heinz smiled as he spoke. The smile on his face was profound and meaningful, and it made Sebastian even more shocked.
Sebastian's heart lurched as he stared at Heinz. He had not expected that he would fall for his father's tricks.
However, Sebastian did not panic. Instead, he laughed and said, "Dad, why do you say so?"
"Am I wrong?" Heinz blinked, a shrewd glint in his piercing eyes.
Heinz knew that Sebastian was faking it. Did Sebastian not understand that Heinz would be so much more experienced than himself? Heinz thought to himself.
"Dad, I've been staying at home for nearly a month. What problems could I possibly have?" Sebastian remained calm as he continued, "I don't lack any necessities, nor am I starving. Naturally, I wouldn't face any problems." "If you don't face any problems in your everyday life, what about your emotional state? Are you facing any problems in that aspect?" Heinz asked.
Sebastian raised an eyebrow and asked, "What do you mean by that, Dad?"
Heinz could not help thinking that Sebastian was indeed quick-witted. Sebastian was just as sharp and intelligent as Heinz was. Heinz thought to himself, full of admiration for Sebastian.
Sebastian and Sylvia were so smart that it was not easy for Heinz to play any tricks on them.
But Heinz was in no rush. He merely smiled slightly and said, "For example, kids your age tend to fall for each other. Are you in love with someone?" Upon hearing that, Sebastian raised his eyebrows and stared at Heinz for a moment. A gleam flashed across his eyes, but he said calmly, "You mean, am I in a relationship?"
"That's right. Spring is the season where everything blooms, a season for fresh and new beginnings." Heinz smiled and continued, "How about you? Do you have any girls that you're interested in?"
Sebastian shook his head, gazing calmly at Heinz. "I have no interest in that. It's not something that's on my mind for the time being."
"You're really not interested at all?" Heinz asked in a tone of disbelief.
Refusing to give up, he looked at Sebastian mischievously and said in a tempting manner, "Sebastian, even if you fall in love at such a young age, it's all right. I believe that you're someone who can plan everything well. Moreover, you're excellent in all aspects. I believe that even if you do fall in love with someone, it won't affect your studies at all."
"Dad, I don't know where you got the confidence to think so highly of your youngest son."
"Why wouldn't I? I've always had plenty of confidence in you." Heinz smiled, gazing at Sebastian meaningfully.
Sebastian knew that Heinz was probably suspecting him of something. Knowing that there was no point in trying to avoid Heinz's questions, he decided that it was better for him to just face them head-on.
Therefore, he looked at Heinz and said frankly, "To me, I think it's not possible that having a relationship won't affect my studies. Furthermore, my priority now is to focus on my studies. I'm a senior in high school, so it's my responsibility to study hard. I assume you haven't forgotten the fact that I'm still in high school." "If you're worried that I might stop you from being in a relationship because you're just a high school student, then you can rest assured that I won't. I'm not such a busybody. Your mum and I aren't that type of parents either. We're both very open-minded, so don't you worry about that," Heinz replied, still trying to persuade him.
Dumbfounded, Sebastian looked at Heinz suspiciously. He felt that Heinz was acting very strange.
"Whatever it is, I have no intention of doing so."
"Sebastian, you don't have to work so hard."
"I'm not working too hard," Sebastian said bluntly. "Why would you say that?"
"Aren't you tired?" Heinz's face was full of suspicion. Clearly, he did not believe Sebastian. He smiled and said, "I noticed that you've been looking miserable. That's why I thought that you had encountered some problems. At your age, I think there shouldn't be anything that would make you that upset apart from relationship problems."
"Dad, I'm not such a shallow person," Sebastian replied.
Heinz did not respond to Sebastian's remark. Instead, he pressed on by saying, "All right. I can understand if you don't have a girlfriend. Then, are there any girls that caught your attention?" "Not at all," Sebastian answered without hesitation.
"Aren't you answering me a little too quickly?" Heinz asked with a smile, "You answered me so quickly. Either you've already thought about how to reply to such a question, or you're deliberately trying to avoid it."
"Dad, you're really making me a bit speechless. I don't know how to answer your questions. You don't even believe me when I tell the truth. Could it be that you want me to lie?"
"It's because your words are too insincere. You're just like how I was when I was young," Heinz replied.
Stunned, Sebastian pursed his lips. There was an inevitable hint of defeat in his gloomy expression.
"Dad, why don't you just ask me directly? Which aspects do you think that I'm having a problem with? Or perhaps you're thinking that I'm in a relationship with someone? Just say it."
"No. I really can't tell who you're in a relationship with, so I'm worried about you." Of course, Heinz would not admit his doubts.
After all, it was all nothing but a wild guess.
However, the conversation made Sebastian understand that Heinz was not just asking random questions. Sebastian knew that Heinz must have discovered something, which was why he asked him those questions.
In fact, the situation was already very obvious. It seemed that Sebastian's behavior had caused his parents to become quite puzzled. Sebastian thought to himself.
This was why his father had come to speak with him.
He quickly composed himself and said, "Dad, I really don't want to be in a relationship. After all, I'm not old enough."
Heinz smiled knowingly as if he did not believe Sebastian.
Sebastian decided to ignore it and went on, "I am clear about what I should be doing at my age.
"Also, I must make this clear. I'm not in love with any girl at all, nor am I attracted to anyone.
"But I want to tell you about my feelings and thoughts.
"To be honest, I feel that I shouldn't waste my youth like that. Besides, if I were in love, I wouldn't be able to make any promises to her anyway.
"If one falls in love at such a young age, the relationship will be fragile, and the couple probably won't be able to endure the hardships they face. A relationship like that tends to fall apart really easily." "Sebastian, it seems that there really is a girl you like it's because you're worried that you won't have the ability to make her happy, so you don't dare to allow yourself to fall in love. That's why you look so bitter and miserable, am I right?"
"You're thinking too much, Dad," Sebastian answered in a low voice, sounding impatient.
"Don't be angry." Heinz was still smiling calmly, and there was a hint of craftiness in his smile.
Sebastian was stunned once again. It seemed like his father had his heart set on getting something out of him before leaving.
He pursed his lips and said, "I've already said what I wanted to say, but you're acting so strangely. Why are you encouraging your son to fall in love at such a young age? Could it be that you faced difficulties in your love life back then? And even after you've learned your lesson, you want your son to face the same exact situation as well?"
"Ugh!" Heinz muttered in frustration, his head aching.
His failed marriage with Jodie seemed like a weapon his sons could use to go against him.
Although Sebastian did not refer to it explicitly, Heinz knew what he meant.
Heinz sighed deeply. After a long while, he said, "I don't mean to encourage you to be in a relationship. I just want to tell you that if you want to be in one, your mother and I won't object."
"I have to say that the both of you are way too democratic in your parenting style. Nheless, I still feel that one shouldn't get involved in a romantic relationship too early," Sebastian replied in a serious tone. "If a guy doesn't have the abilit control his emotions and doesn't even have a stable career yet, he shouldn't hurt a girl. It's just like how
some people who decide to get
married too young end up
to
separating due to the hardships they
face in life afterward.
"Not only would they both become divorcees, but the girl's future would also be ruined. That's definitely not something I would want to happen."
Forget it. Sebastian was making it so obvious that he was referring to Heinz as a man who had married twice. Heinz thought to himself.
Heinz felt his head aching even more.
How could Sebastian reprimand Heinz like that? Heinz wondered.
Could they just forget about that?
He made a mistake back then, but how could his sons keep on bringing it up like this?Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Seeing the complicated expression on Heinz's face, Sebastian knew that his words had been
effective.
It might have directly touched Heinz's sore spot. Sebastian smiled and said, "Dad, I need to continue studying. I'm sure you have some business to
attend to at the office, so why don't you go ahead and head on out?"
Heinz had wanted to continue pursuing the topic. However, he finally realized that he was no match for Sebastian.
Sure enough, Sebastian had taken after Heinz and even outshone him.
Both father and son had seemed evenly matched in their battle of wits and courage with neither of them having the upper hand.
However, Heinz clearly understood that Sebastian had won this time.
