Chapter 52
Chapter 52
Anastasia returned to her residence and reached out to hug Snowball. As she patted the cat, she murmured, “Snowball…”
She thought, “What will Snowball do after I die?”
She needed to entrust Snowball to someone before she died.
It was obviously unrealistic to leave her to Alastor because Felicia hated cats.
Anastasia sat on the couch, looking at this place that she once thought would be her home.
Alastor’s so-called “home” was merely a byword.
It was a cold and bloodless home without warmth.
“Snowball, eat more.” Anastasia fed Snowball more cat food and some dried fish.
Snowball meowed happily in response.
Squatting down next to Snowball’s cat bed, Anastasia smiled.
The human world was not quite a pleasant place. In her next life, she no longer wanted to return here. If she had the choice, it would be better to be a carefree kitten.
She didn’t want to wander around outside. She wanted to meet a kind-hearted person, have a comforting kitten’s bed, and have a home where no one would abandon her.
When Alastor came back, the fragrance of food was overflowing in the house.
Anastasia busied herself in the kitchen as usual.
Alastor stood at the door and was silent for a long time.
At that moment, he felt like the divorce was just a dream. NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
“Anastasia… Alastor’s voice sounded slightly hoarse as if he had a tiring past few days.
Anastasia brought out the food and smiled at Alastor. “Let’s have our last meal.”
After this meal, they were really going to part ways.
Alastor’s
‘s expression was dark as he frowned. “I told you not to announce it to the public. We will hide it from Grandma, and we must carry on the same as before.”
“Alastor, we can’t be the same as before. We just need to cooperate when we visit her every week, Anastasia said as she filled Alastor’s plate with pasta.
For the past four years, she played the role of a proper housewife to the fullest extent.
There was not a single day when she actually lived for herself.
In order to take better care of Alastor, she even studied how to best balance nutritional value.
She had focused all her thoughts on their “home.”
However, she did not know that “home” was just a byword.
She felt as if she was falling into a black hole, and was being torn to shreds.
“Grandma isn’t stupid.” Alastor’s face darkened as he said, “Starting tomorrow, I’ll be living at home.”
Anastasia took a deep breath and did not try to argue. “Then I’ll move out.”
“Anastasia!” Alastor’s emotions were slightly out of control and his anger seemed to be building. “Must you keep fighting
with me?”
“Alastor, the veil has been torn down. I’m sick of all this,” Anastasia said. She could not continue to face him while pretending not to know anything. “Besides, my departure will make room for you and Felicia. You can let her in boldly instead of sneaking in while I’m on a business trip.” Anastasia’s stomach surged violently and she felt the urge to vomit.
“I was drunk the other day.” Alastor lowered his head and rubbed between his eyebrows.
Anastasia sneered, “Let’s eat first, lest you get gastric pain if the food gets cold.”
The food tasted like wax to both of them, and neither said anything before finishing their meals.
“Did you go for a pregnancy check-up today?” Alastor asked when he saw Anastasia begin to clear the table,
“M” Anastasia nodded.
“I’ll go with you next time,” Alastor whispered.
Anastasia turned to look at Alastor. She thought, “He’s being quite accommodating toward his child. He accompanied Felicia to the pregnancy check-up in person, and now he’s actually giving me the same treatment.”
“The baby is well. I will give birth to it.” Anastasia put the utensils in the dishwasher and walked out of the kitchen. After wiping her hands, she took out the agreement.
“There are four agreements in total. One is a divorce agreement, one is an equity transfer agreement, another pertains to the children’s inheritance, and the last is a confidentiality agreement.” Anastasia had made sure to prepare everything for
Alastor.
Frowning, Alastor leaned against the couch. “Anastasia, why are you so eager?”
“I think you’re the one who’s eager, Alastor” Privately, Anastasia thought that he was being ridiculous.
“I’ve made an appointment with the best expert in this field for Mrs. Gunn, and the operation will be on next Friday,” Alastor said, changing the subject.
“Thank you. In return, I contacted the mentor this afternoon and he said that he can take a look at Felicia’s work first. As you know, my mentor is a person who only prefers the quality of the work,” Anastasia reminded Alastor that she had done what she should do, and the rest depended on Felicia’s own ability.
“Anastasia, did Jace enter the juvenile detention center for your sake?” Alastor changed the subject again. “You’ve never really trusted me the entire four years of our marriage.”
In Alastor’s opinion, Anastasia had too many secrets.
Instantly, Anastasia’s fists clenched. It was as if the bloody scar had been torn open once again.
