wasted. She could tell everyone was buzzing with the prospect of wrapping up early. maybe even
ditching the night shoot.
Dinner with the cast and crew didn’t appeal to her. She was about to excuse herself to Miller when she
locked eyes with a man beside him. It was Brian, and she was surprised.
Natalie hadn’t expected Brian to show up, especially not after he had ignored her desperate pleas
outside his mansion just the night before. She felt disgusted at herself for clinging to a man she knew
had someone else in his heart, for signing a year–long contract with him despite knowing better.
Freezing for a second as she wiped her mouth, she quickly regained her composure and walked over
to Miller, speaking softly, “Miller, you guys go ahead without me for dinner. I’m still jet–lagged.”
“Mr. Howard came with Madelyn to shoot the music video for the theme song. Maybe you could join…”
Miller trailed off, clearly uncomfortable with the situation.
“Thanks, but no. You guys have fun.” Natalie said with a smile, lowering her voice.
After excusing herself, she gave a cursory nod to Brian and Madelyn. “Mr. Howard, Ms. Madelyn, sorry
I can’t join.”
“It’s just dinner, and the hotel is close by,” Madelyn replied with a small smile. “It won’t take up much of
your time, and you’ve got to eat anyway, right?”
“I’m skipping dinner tonight,” Natalie responded quietly.
“You’re already in great shape. No need for a diet. Just cut back on what you eat,” Madelyn insisted,
not ready to drop the subject. Then, she turned to Rosie, who was standing behind Natalie. “It’s not
Rosie putting you on a diet, is it?”
As the conversation unfolded, Brian’s dark and unyielding gaze remained fixed on Natalie.
Natalie knew he was watching her, her grip on her cup so tight her knuckles turned white.
Caught in a difficult spot and unsure how to react, Rosie was about to come up with a poor excuse to
get them out of the situation. But Natalie cut in, “It’s not Rosie’s decision for me to diet.”
“However, it would be rude to refuse since Madelyn has kindly invited me.”
Since Madelyn and Brian didn’t find it awkward, Natalie decided she wouldn’t either. It was just a
dinner, after all.
With that, she turned and walked out alone.
She hopped into a prop van parked outside, waiting until Brian and Miller exited the building.
Before getting into his car, Brian glanced back in her direction. Through the tinted window Natalie
watched him silently. She knew he was aware of her presence. After all, there was a tracking device
involved. However, Brian merely glanced and then locked away indiferently.
Natalie stepped out of the van to join Miller and the others in a shuttle after Brian and Madelyn
had left.
Miller kept glancing at her on the way as if he had something to say but couldn’t cute find the words.
With others around, it wasn’t the place to discuss the nature of her relationships with Brian or Gavin,
which Miller hadn’t quite figured out himself.
To impress Brian, Miller had booked a lavish VIP suite with a dining room adjacent to a game room, a
band, and a lounge. When Natalie entered, Brian was nowhere to be seen. Instead, she saw Sofia and
a few others were with Madelyn, engrossed in a game of cards.
