Chapter 98
The cruelest thing in this world isn’t failing to obtain what you desire but losing it after it’s
finally in your grasp.
“Little dummy.” Natalie thought she heard Brian’s voice again. She calmly opened her eyes and took a
few seconds to realize she was in a hospital.
She slightly turned her head and saw Brian sitting on the nearby couch, his gaze locked onto the
documents on his laptop screen, a frown creasing his brow, dark circles under his eyes pronounced.
She had asked Rosie the night before to get her some hemostatic, considering the hotel was full of
celebrities, fans, and paparazzi. She didn’t want to make a scene and give away the nature of her
relationship with Brian.
Brian felt Natalie stir on the hospital bed and turned to look at her, meeting her gaze just in
time.
Natalie appeared calm and quietly shifted her gaze to the IV bag as if she didn’t care who was
beside her.
“Does it still hurt?” Brian asked, a slight frown on his face as he closed his laptop and spoke softly.
“It’s none of your business,” Natalie replied quietly.
Upon hearing her words, Brian stiffened, rose from his seat, and strolled over to the bedside, leaning in
somewhat closer to her.
Natalie turned her face away, avoiding his touch.
He halted for a while but continued to place his palm on her forehead to check her temperature. After
an overnight IV, Natalie’s temperature had stabilized. She looked much better than when she was
brought in the night before.
“Mr. Howard, the conscientious businessman,” Natalie said, looking at him with a wry smile. “Not only Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
do you take care of the dirty work, but you also handle the aftermath.”
Brian had to admit he had overreacted the previous night, but it was because of Kellan.
After locking eyes for a moment, Brian withdrew his hand and asked in a low voice, “Have you
considered the question Kellan asked you?”
“I’d rather marry a vegetable,” Natalie replied almost instantly, without a second thought.
“Natalie!” Brian’s face darkened quickly.
“Only because that’s not the answer you wanted,” Natalie retorted with another wry smile. “But Brian,
our agreement only lasts for a year. After that, you have no right to interfere in my

personal life.”
The short time after the agreement felt like an eternity to Natalie. There were still over three hundred
days left for her to coexist with this devil
Brian knew it well
Continuing the conversation with the current Natalie would only infuriate him further and lead him to
more irrational actions.
“Fine.” he said after a moment of silence, suppressing his anger with a nod.
“But you better understand the one–year term has just begun!”
Watching Brian leave in anger, Natalie couldn’t help but smirk sarcastically. It was the mutual torment
they both had signed up for.
She grabbed the cell phone from the bedside table and glanced at it, seeing a message from Gavin
sent an hour ago.
[No more trouble with the meds at King’s end. No need to worry anymore.]
Madelyn rose from the couch in Majestic Meadows Manor upon hearing that Sofia’s scandal was
worsening.
“How can it be? Weren’t those issues suppressed already?”
Madelyn and Sofia were often marketed together, and Sofia’s trouble meant she was bound to get
caught in the crossfire!
There were no real friendships among female celebrities. They would fight tooth and nail over various
resources. But if you were to appear friendless in this circle, it would reflect poorly on your character,
hence the rule of ‘marketing friendships.‘
