Chapter 116
Chapter 116 The Anonymous Video
“Of course she does! Zera wouldn't be in this situation if Maia hadn't revealed her secrets. Zera said she’s going to spend some downtime in Stonebrook. Maia was producing a show in the very same place! What are the odds of that?”
Rita analyzed the situation, thinking she couldn’t be mistaken.
“Zera can’t hope to be as cunning as Maia. It’s highly possible that she set Zera up. I’m sure she wants to take revenge on our family. That's why she did what she did to Zera!”
Cedric asked calmly, “Did you take
your medicine?”
“Huh?” Rita was stunned. She never thought her son would show concern for her. She beamed, “Are you talking about my heart medication, Cedric?”
Her heart wasn’t doing too well. She was being medicated for it.
“I'm talking about the mental health medication.”
Before she could reply, he hung up the phone and set it to silent mode immediately.
Baz came in shortly and said, “I received news from Ms. Rita too, Mr. Cedric. She said Ms. Zera went missing. Should we intervene and send some men to track her down?”
“That won't be necessary,” Cedric said decisively. “Call the police instead.”
“Roger.” Baz nodded and left to do his bidding.
They were wrapping up the live stream in the central square. They'd continue the rest of the
shoot in the afternoon, after a short break.
Maia went to her room and rested on the couch. Suddenly, her phone buzzed. Someone had sent a video to her anonymously. Maia was a little puzzled. She played the video. She dropped her phone the moment she saw
what was in it.
Zera was screaming in the video, “S—Stop it... Who are you guys?! Please! I’ll pay you. Just name your price. I'll pay you anything!”
The men around her showed no interest in what she said. Instead, they were staring at her, lust in their eyes.
“We've suffered a lot in our daily lives. Now, we get to have our way with a celebrity. This is great!”
“It’s a shame she’s such a slut, but | guess she'll do!”
Maia was dumbstruck to hear such horrible insults. Zera screamed in terror as eight men rushed at her and tore her clothes to shreds!
Maia could hear a cacophony of screams, cheers, and the sound of flesh pressing against each other. Then, the footage was cut off abruptly and some texts popped up instead.
Didn’t you hate her, Maia? I've exacted revenge for your sake. | hope you’re grateful!
Maia was terrified. She picked up her phone when she finally composed herself. Whoever kidnapped Zera must have sent her the video. Who could it be? What was this person trying to achieve?
The whole thing seemed seriously off.
Maia did not care much for Zera, but the kidnapper sent this video to her. What did it mean? Was the kidnapper using her name to do this cruel stuff to Zera?
Maia had no time to lose. There were cameras everywhere in the hallway outside. There was only one thing to do.
She hurried to the balcony and checked the balcony next door. Thankfully, the gap between them was narrow, and she leaped across them easily. Then, she slid open the glass door.
Just as she entered Cedric’s room, he came out of the bathroom in a white towel. His wet hair and muscle contours were very enticing. She had seen him like this countless times, but she still turned around quickly.
Cedric chuckled as Maia covered her eyes, “When did you develop the habit of leaping over balconies, honey?” He took another towel and dried his hair. Then, he took a few steps and embraced her.
Maia could feel the warmth from him through her clothes. The air conditioner was on, but she could feel the heat. She untangled his hands and kept a distance from him.
“Put some clothes on!”
“You've seen me naked before. What’s there to be embarrassed about?” He couldn't help but tease her a little.
“I'm here for business, Cedric. Could you please be serious?”
“Promise me you won't leap over balconies again.”
It was still quite dangerous even if their rooms were only on the second floor.
“Fine. | promise. Now hurry up and put on some clothes!” Maia couldn’t talk to him when he
was like this. Anyway, it wasn’t like she enjoyed leaping over balconies. Who wouldn’t want to use the door? She wouldn’t have done it if she had a choice!
Cedric put on a white shirt and long pants. He looked sharp.
“You can stop covering your eyes now.” Cedric smiled and lowered her hand, signaling her to open her eyes. Maia gave him her phone when she was sure he was clothed.
“Take a look at this video | just received. It’s about Zera. | can’t be sure if it's real, but it sure doesn’t look fake.” The video's crisp resolution lent credence to its authenticity.
“I'm not interested. It doesn’t concern me anyway.” Cedric said decisively. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Why should he concern himself with Zera? He had treated her well enough, considering he was only her brother in name. “Someone sent it to me and said they did it for me... He even said that | should be grateful.”
Cedric snatched her phone away the next moment.
“Didn’t you say you weren't interested?”
“It's related to you, honey. | have to take a look at it!”
Maia had the urge to roll her eyes when she heard him calling her his honey. Who was he calling honey? The way he said it made it seem like it was a habit.
Cedric was indifferent when the video showed several men pinning Zera down on the ground. He fast-forwarded the video to the last part.
He was unsettled when the texts popped up.
“Do you know if something bad has happened to Zera? You have to let me know, Cedric.” Maia sounded completely calm, “The only way to find out who sent me this video is by tracking down Zera and her kidnapper.”
