Will You Marry Me, Again

Chapter 133

Chapter 133 The Culprit May Be Another Person

“Did everything really come to light?” He settled down with his teacup and looked at Maia. “I actually feel like this whole thing has become even more confusing.”Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

Maia paused as she was sipping her tea.

“What do you mean, Jordan? Yvette had a motive, and she admitted to her crime in her suicide. note...” “Maia, have you seen the surveillance footage that the tech department restored?”

Maia thought about the surveillance footage, which was currently in her office drawer.

“| have not watched that footage since confirming Yvette as the culprit.”

“The tech department knows about my relationship with you, so they made a copy for me. | watched the restored footage in detail, comparing it with Yvette’s figure...

“| was planning to talk to you about this even if you didn’t come over today. | don’t think the person who entered the company was Yvette. The figure doesn’t match hers. The real culprit might be someone else.” T

The teacup in Maia’s hand suddenly fell onto the carpet, staining it.

“Sorry, Jordan.” Maia immediately apologized once she realized what happened.

“No worries. The cleaning service will be here tomorrow. But what about you? Did burned?”

Maia shook her head. “I’m fine.”

Shortly after, her expression became serious. “Jordan, are you suggesting that Yvette is nothing but a scapegoat?”

“The murderer was likely worried that you would find out about them, so they made Yvette. take the blame for everything. Regardless of how Yvette was involved or was an accomplice, she’s definitely not the mastermind.”

Then, Jordan quickly turned on the TV, and the image of that woman soon appeared on the screen.

Her movements were highly suspicious, and she was very familiar with the internal workings of the company, but... the figure didn't look like Yvette.

Maia never expected that the surveillance footage she had put away would become crucial information.

“This is my negligence.”

Maia pondered why Yvette hanged herself and why, in her suicide note, she admitted to a crime from years ago. Mala didn’t think it through because she assumed it was Yvette’s repentance. But who would've thought? The murderer almost escaped justice again!

“Maia, do you think the woman in this surveillance footage is really Yvette?”

Jordan had never had any contact with Yvette, so he could only judge her figure based on videos and photos. But Maia was different. She had interacted with Yvette many times, so she had a better relative understanding of her figure.

“This isn’t her,” Maia said confidently. “Although the woman in the surveillance is wearing loose clothes, and her height seems similar to Yvette, but... Yvette is very slender, with skinny legs. She doesn’t look like the woman in the video.”

Jordan nodded in agreement..

“There’s another point. Rosa was pushed off the building's top floor. If Yvette really did it, why would she deceive the chairman into going upstairs? Rosa, as far as | know, is not interested in talking to Yvette, let alone meeting her privately.”

Maia quickly grasped the implication and continued, “Do you mean that the person who brought my mom to the rooftop is not only someone my mom is familiar with but also someone she would have no guard against?”

Jordan nodded. “That’s exactly what | mean, Maia. You're going to face a tough battle.”

“Jordan, please pretend not to know about this. | don’t want to alert the killer until we find out

who itis.”

Maia did not know who to trust anymore. The women around her, especially those her mother had trusted, were all suspects.

“It's precisely because I’m afraid of alerting the killer that | wanted to tell you about this privately. Apart from you and me, no one else should know about this.”

Maia stood up. “Thank you, Jordan.”

Jordan swiftly shook his head and said, “Maya, the reason | returned to Starlight again is to investigate Rosa’s cause of death. This is your mission and mine. So, you don’t need to thank me.”

“I'll definitely get to the bottom of this.”

If it wasn’t Yvette who did it, the real culprit must not be allowed to escape!

Maia left Jordan's place, and it was raining outside. She took out her phone and called Buck. “Miss Maia, do you need me for something? Isn’t it the weekend today?”

“Buck, are you bothering my sister again?”

“Cough, cough...” Buck suddenly choked. “Miss Maia, I’m accompanying Miss Hope to the place where she lived as a child. She’s packing her things.‘

“Do you need help?” Maia asked.

“It would be better if you could come. Hope is packing up her mother’s belongings and crying. I’m not sure how to comfort her. Hope will definitely be pleased to see you

here.”

Then, Hope's voice came through the phone with a hint of expectation.

“Buck, is it my sister's call?”

“Yes,” Buck truthfully answered.

“Will my sister come?” Hope asked Buck again.

Maia heard her question and replied, “Yes.”

After the call ended, Maia drove toward Hope’s former residence. Back then, Yvette lived with Hope in an old apartment on the west side of the city.

Maia couldn't bear it in her heart and eventually arrived at the place.

The sky was gray, and the entire neighborhood was quiet.

The door at the bottom of the apartment building was open, and Maja walked into the narrow corridor, reaching the second floor. The old iron door was also open, and inside, Hope was packing Yvette’s belongings. She was being cautious.

Maia recalled her past self as she watched Hope alone. On a rainy day like this, she pretended to be strong, not shedding a tear. But her whole body was numb.

She could not remember how she got through that day. She only remembered the silence as she silently packed her mother’s belongings, not crying or making a sound, but only she knew how painful it was.

“Hope.” Maia stepped into the two-bedroom apartment and called out to her.
