Chapter 139
Chapter 139 It's Time to End This “Get in the car, now!” Cedric lowered the car window and said impatiently. “Right away!” Baz nodded and hopped in immediately.
The air conditioner was turned on in the car. Baz felt much better now. He drove the car out of the old neighborhood. They were in the city very soon.
“Has my mom been discharged from the hospital?”
“Ms. Rita was discharged two days ago,” Baz answered instantly.
Then, Cedric spoke again with a terrifying voice, “Is Josephine still alive?”
“She is. We acquired a lot of rotten eggs from farmers and egged her. She stinks to high heaven now.” Cedric tapped his thigh with his fingers. “Take her to the Larkin Manor.” It was time to end
this!

“Roger.” Baz made a few phone calls and ordered the bodyguards to transport Josephine to the Larkin Manor when the traffic light turned red. Then, he turned the car around and drove to the aforementioned manor.
They arrived at the Larkin Manor in about half an hour. Cedric had not been here for the better part of a month. His unannounced arrival made Rita’s heart leap!
“Cedric, you’re here! Were you worried about me? | knew it. | knew you had a heart!” Rita started acting like an doting mother the moment she saw her son.
Cedric, on the other hand, was indifferent to her as he made his way into the manor. He turned and looked at Baz, who was following him, “Is she here already?”
“She is.” “Bring her to me.”
“Roger.” Baz nodded and made a phone call. Rita didn’t know what was going on. Josephine was brought into the manor about a minute or two later.
She had been egged every day for the past half a month. She was sickly thin on account of being fed poorly. The bodyguards dumped a hogtied Josephine onto the floor and stood to the
side.
The nauseating odor of rotten eggs filled the entire manor. Some of the servants could not take the stench and went to throw up in the backyard.
“W-Who's she?” Rita could not recognize her. She covered her nose and pointed at Josephine. +15 BONUS “Don’t you recognize her?” Cedric sneered and sat on the couch, looking all casual.
Rita took a few steps forward and realization dawned. She took a few steps back, shocked. “I- Is that Josephine?” Her legs were about to give out when Judy, the ever-loyal servant, helped steady her.
“Wake her up.”
“Roger.” Baz took some boiling water and poured it on Josephine. She was unconscious, but
snapped wide awake when the scalding water hit her flesh.

She could not move a muscle. Instead, she could only grovel on the floor and with a hoarse voice.

“Do you like that, Ms. Josephine? Hot water for a scorching hot summer!” Josephine winced as Baz yanked her up. Rita was shocked beyond words at witnessing such horror. She never took Cedric to be so sadistic.
“What are you doing, Cedric? She could die from this!” Rita kept up her kind lady act when, in fact, she would be glad if Josephine died there and then. After all, dead men tell no tales.
“You don’t know the half of it, Ms. Rita! Josephine’s an unscrupulous bully who must face the consequences of what she’s done. She messed with Mr. Cedric’s beloved ex-wife. The scalding water is already merciful enough!”
Baz smiled cruelly. He even waved the bucket when he was explaining it to Rita. It was as if he was inviting her to have a go at it.
Rita was overwhelmed again. She was shivering with fear when she grabbed Judy’s hands. Cedric looked savage and terrifying. Sitting in the darkness, he looked like the Devil. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“I'm going to give you one chance.*
Josephine used every ounce of energy she had to look at him. She was eager to survive this.
“I'll spare you if you tell me who pulled your strings.”
Josephine could not stop crying. She nodded repeatedly when she heard she would be freed if she blew the whistle on the person behind the scenes. Rita saw it and tightened her grip on Judy.
Judy patted Rita’s hands and said, “How could you believe a word out of her, Mr. Cedric? An eye-witness is the least reliable method in such situations!”
Josephine shook her head again and again when she heard what Judy said. +15 BONUS
“Ms. Rita is heartbroken to see Josephine in this state. Look, she’s shivering. She’s related to Josephine, after all. She even had dinner with Josephine’s family last night. There’s a line you don’t cross, Mr. Cedric. Don’t you think you should show Ms. Rita some respect?”
There was an unspoken threat in Judy’s words. Josephine was spooked to hear it.
“Did she think to show me some respect when she picked on Maia?” Cedric retorted. Judy dared not say anything. Rita remained quiet too.
“I-It was my own doing.” Josephine said feebly. She decided to shoulder all the blame. “I-I was close to Zera. I-I wanted to avenge her. That's why | begged Ms. Rita to give me a ticket to the 1511 Fashion Show! It was me. It was all me!”
Rita was relieved to hear what Josephine said. It looked like Judy’s words were enough to warn her. It was a hint that her family’s lives were in their hands!
Rita warned Josephine that she must not blow the whistle on her even if she failed in her task Otherwise, her family would be in jeopardy.
Naturally, Josephine chose to sacrifice herself. That way, she could protect her family and leave them with five million dollars.
