Will You Marry Me, Again

Chapter 14

Chapter 14 Do You Regret It?

“It's up to you.”

Maia went to the wine cabinet and retrieved a bottle, but she struggled to use the corkscrew. She couldn't quite turn the handles, and her face flushed due to the exertion.

Seeing this, Cedric got up and walked toward the bar counter.

“Go sit. I'll open it in just a second,” Maia said as she continued to struggle with the corkscrew.

Cedric held her hand from behind her and pressed the handles, effortlessly removing the cork. He chuckled.

Surprised, Maia looked over her shoulder at him. His handsome face was no longer tense and fierce. She had never seen him like this.

“What are you laughing at?” she said in her melodic voice.

“It was kind of cute,” he replied as he went to the dining hall.

Dazed, Maia stared at the cork. ‘Kind of cute? Was he talking about me?

Her heart pounded as if her love for him had rekindled.

“What are you standing there for?” Cedric’s smile was fading into a cold expression.

Catching herself, Maia quickly said, “I'll get the wine glasses.”

She took the wine glasses from the cabinet and shook her head, trying to calm herself down.

‘Maia, don’t overthink it, okay? He only said that on a whim. You agreed to leave him alone starting tomorrow, so that’s why he’s been nice to you. He'll always hate you, alright?”

Taking a deep breath, she poured the red wine and handed a glass to Cedric. She raised her glass and grinned. “Here’s a toast to our marriage for the first and last time.”

There was a snowstorm outside, but she felt warm for the first time in the house. She gave him an enchanting smile under the soft light.

Cedric remained impassive but raised his glass and clinked it with hers.

Maia took a sip and grimaced as if she were tasting something awful.

“Why? Something wrong with the wine?”

Shaking her head, Maia answered truthfully, “The wine is fine, but it's this year’s batch, and it’s not as good as the ones | make.” +15 BONUS

Cedric took a sip, too, and it was indeed not great. He wondered why the butler bought it.

Next time, let me have a taste of your wine, okay?”NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

Maia was thrilled because he had never made a request before. Without thinking much, she answered, “Sure, it’s a deal!” Seeing her so happy, Cedric said nothing else. The dining room fell into an uncomfortable silence again,

Gazing at the snow falling outside, Maia said, “When | first married you, | used to imagine we could have snowball fights and build snowmen with our child, but...”

Knowing it was no longer possible, she downed the wine in one gulp. Soon, a few more glasses were consumed. When she was about to pour the fifth glass, Cedric grabbed her hand and said, “That's enough. You're drunk.”

“Hey, | can hold my liquor.” Maia’s face was flushed, and her beautiful eyes were sparkling.” Thank you, Cedric, for not chasing me off and dining with me. I'll remember this day forever...

She was determined to remember it until her death.

Cedric squeezed her hand and asked, “Do you regret it, Maia?”
