Will You Marry Me, Again

Chapter 168

Chapter 168 Don’t You Want A Taste?

Maia lowered her head and pretended to be obedient and submissive. She spoke softly too, like a meek daughter-in-law that everyone picked on... just like she was two years ago!

pager Cedric glanced at her, to see what she would do next. “Huh? You lost your memory?” Rita couldn’t believe it. She looked at Cedric and asked, “Is this true, Cedric?”

“It is.” He answered coldly. Rita looked at Maia again and held her hand, “It’s going to be fine, Maia. Keep calling me ‘mother.’ | like it when you do that..

“| spent hours making chicken soup for you. You should have more of it.” “Okay.” Maia nodded and looked at Rita uneasily. Rita smiled triumphantly when she saw the anxiety in Maia’s eyes. She gripped her hands. tighter.

Maia could tell Rita was happy with what she saw. She kept quiet and made herself seem small. However, there was a glint in her eyes.

Why was Rita so happy to hear that she had lost her memories? Was it because Rita couldn't wait to start giving her a hard time again?

Rita had better watch her back. Maia would return twice the pain she had received at Rita’s hands. Revenge was a dish best served cold, after all!

Maia hid her real thoughts, looked at Rita, and said meekly, “Are you going to stay for dinner, mother?”

This was how she spoke to Rita two years ago. She paid her respects and obeyed her every wish for Cedric’s sake. All she got in return was pain.

“I'm not staying for dinner, Maia. | feel much better now that | know both of you are safe. I'll take my leave soon. “How about we go out for lunch tomorrow? My friends just told me about a lovely new restaurant. It’s supposed to be good!”

Maia nodded and said obediently, “Sure. I'll go with you if you'd like. | just want to make you happy. It’s my duty as your daughter-in-law.”

“Thank goodness, Maia. I’m so glad you don’t bear any ill feelings. What | did to you was wrong. | haven't stepped out of the house for the past two years.

“| was reflecting on my wrongdoings, and | must say... I’m sorry, Maia. You’ve been through so much.”

Mala thought Rita’s hypocrisy was hilarious to observe. Her apology had got to be the best joke she had heard in her whole life. The day Rita knew to reflect on her wrongdoings and admit her faults would be the day pigs. could fly!

She raised her head and looked at Rita, her eyes still mistrustful.

“I'm fine, mother. | didn’t have it rough. You didn’t do anything wrong. It was my fault. You were mad because | wasn’t good enough.”

Rita saw the state she was in and started crying. Maia looked at her crocodile tears. This was the face that deceived her over and over again!

“It’s all in the past now. I’m the one who should apologize. Let's treat each other well in this family from here on out. Zera simply didn’t have the fortune for this...

Rita’s tears dropped freely when she talked about her daughter. She quickly wiped them away. Maia continued to play dumb. She asked, “Zera? What’s happened to her? Isn’t she with you?” “Z-Zera was murdered. She’s gone. My baby girl’s gone...” Rita sobbed.

Maia pretended to be shocked. “What? Zera’s gone...?”

“You shouldn't have brought that up,” Cedric said coldly.

Rita wiped away her tears and nodded, “You're right. | shouldn’t have. It’s all in the past now. There’s no point in talking about it. Itll only make us sad.”

Then, Rita looked at Maia and said, “You're such a good girl. I’m going to pick you up tomorrow and we'll go for lunch together. “All of us are going to be happy from now on. Give me a chance. Let me treat you right.” Maia nodded. “Thank you, mom.” She sobbed..

“Stop thanking me. We're family, after all. Rest well and drink the chicken soup. I’ll get out of your hair now.” Rita had not been planning on staying long anyway.

She patted Maia’s hands once more, and said to Cedric, “You should have some soup too, Cedric. Stop blaming me. | know where | did wrong.”

Cedric did not even bother to look at her.

Rita could not help but trembled a little. Then, Maia said gently, “Safe travels, mother. You shouldn’t ponder on what happened to Zera. She must've been glad she had a mother like you.

“| think she’s still watching over you. She’d be too reluctant to let you go and leave you alone. I’m sure she’s protecting you from afar. Stay strong, mother.”

Rita did not feel good about this.

“Okay.” Rita nodded and left quickly.

Maia stifled her laughter. She had been trying to spook Rita, but she did not think she would actually pull it off. She relaxed when she was sure Rita had left Prismara Hill and turned to Cedric.

“It’s like they say, you wouldn’t be afraid of anything if you have a clear conscience. Not even ghosts could scare you. What do you think about your mother’s reaction earlier?”This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

“Her hands were dirty ever since she picked on you,” he said. Maia was surprised. She had not expected him to say that. Cedric cast aside the document he had been reading and looked at her ominously, “I don’t intend to keep her around.”

Maia blinked. What he said unnerved her. Was he about to deal with his mother just to set things right? Was he doing this for her?

What should we c

we do with

Oswald appeared out of nowhere and asked, the chicken soup Ms. Rita brought over? Should | serve it to you?” “Throw it in the bin,” Cedric said coldly.

Oswald nodded instantly, “At once, sir.”

Maia waited until Oswald left before asking, “Are you sure you're not going to taste your mother’s chicken soup? What a shame. She brought it all the way here, after all.”
