James’ pov
The shock which had been brought about by the unexpectedness in which Luca had sprang this
particular question on me, is still yet to ebb away.
Luca had his head tilted sideways, and even though his face was completely blank right now, I knew he
was currently paying close attention to me, obviously waiting for me to continue to speak.
I mean, I knew this question was going to come sooner than later. There was only so long I could go
with keeping things away from Luca before he forced it out of me, like it has always been between us
since we were very young.
Frankly, he’d have been sprang this question on me ages ago if he hadn’t been completely
disorganized by the problem between him and his wife. Hence why it really shouldn’t be a surprise to
me that he’s springing the question on me now, seeing as his mind has finally managed to relax in
weeks.
I ran my hand over my face and breathed out a long sigh, and then I leaned forward, dropping my
hands on the empty spot on the table before, and then I cleared my throat.
“Go on already.” Luca called out, leaning back in his seat and folding his hands around his middle.
“You see, there’s this girl.” I breathed out on another sigh, and this time, Luca let out a flagbagssted
sound as he shook his head a little.
“You said that before, James.” He pointed out and I realized that I had indeed said that before.
The thing is, I’m not sure of how to actually go about this.
After I realized that Blair was royalty, it had taken long hours for me to come to terms with that. I had
felt very confused, I still am, especially after looking up into that particular topic and coming up with
absolutely nothing.
I had ordered my men to dig out whatever they could lay their hands on. I had made my own personal
research as well, but all of that has amounted to nothing, which is still leaving me feeling completely
confused.
Blair was hell bent on not revealing anything else, and I promised myself to not ask her about it, not
wanting to make her uncomfortable.
The royal family in question were a really large family, which had made it hard to actually dig into,
because the fact that it was very broad, is a sign alone that it would be literally impossible to actually
get anything out of it, especially when the said research was being carried out with barely enough
information.
That night after Blair had revealed her being related to the woman whose death had displaced on
television that particular night at the restaurant– I had been unable to get any sleep because I had
been deep in thoughts.
On getting to Blair’s bedroom that night, I wasn’t really surprised to see her still awake. She had been
laying down, but her eyes had been very much alert. The shirt she had on that night, was one of mine
as well, making an unidentified hit well pleased feeling settle down in the lower part of my chest as I
regarded her some more, having nothing else to do and actually wanting to be around her.
I stayed in the bedroom with her, and then we began to talk about so many things at once, that I didn’t
know when one thing led to another until we were in her bed together, with her lithe body in my arms
and her face buried in my throat. The feeling of her warm breaths hitting my throat every few seconds
felt very soothing, and I found it extremely cute when she clung very tightly to me as she slept, like she
was afraid I'd slip out of her bed if she didn't hold onto me tightly in her sleep.
As usual, like the night we spent together on the ground in the sitting room the day before, her body
had felt extremely nice against mine, and it didn’t take her long to fall into unconsciousness.
That night, we had fallen asleep that way, and the sleep had been a very satisfying one.
I had contemplated asking her for more details about who she actually is the very next morning while
we had been having breakfast, but it didn’t take me long to discard that thought. It was at that moment
that I decided within myself that I was going to dig out answers all by myself, without having to ask her
anything.
So far, I’ve come up with… nothing.”
“So…” I breathed out, folding my hands together as I spoke. “Do you know who Maisai Bridget is?”
Luca blinked at me at confusion, head tilting a little. I snorted and decided to throw more light to the
question. “Maisai Bridget, mother of Enzo the Third, from the royal family.”
An unimpressed look crossed Luca’s face as expected in the next few moments as he grunted out.
“Yeah, I guess. Isn’t that the King’s mother?”
I nodded grimly. “Yeah, that’s her, and she’s actually late now.”
Luca’s gaze only narrowed a little as he spoke. “What has those bunch of assholes got to do with the
actual conversation?”
A grimace crossed my face and I breathed out a sigh.
The mafia and the royal family haven’t been on good terms for years, which is why I had already known
Luca wasn’t going to be pleased about this.
“That’s cause… it kinda has something to do with it.” I explained. Luca’s expression was blank as he
gave a tense nod, prompting me to continue to speak.
“The girl in the picture now, is someone who’s related to the royal family.”
Luca leaned forward as he spoke. “Related… how?”
I let out a long sigh. “That’s what I’m still confused about, but I’m still carrying out research.”
A confused look crossed Luca’s face. “This supposed girl didn’t tell you what her actual relationship to Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
the royal family is?”
Luca didn’t know a damn thing about how my relationship with Blair is, so his question is very valid.
“No, she didn’t. But I’ll get to the bottom of it really soon. Till then, I don’t want to reveal anything about
her until I figure the entire thing out.”
