Chapter 745
Quincy did not push further. "I'll take the documents back, but the legal process has already taken effect."
Nina's brows furrowed even more. She asked again, "Where is Nash? Why isn't he here to explain this himself?"
She had asked three times, and Quincy still had not answered.
"Do you think I won't get suspicious if you don't answer?" Nina pressed.
Scarlett knew they could not keep this from Nina forever. She would find out sooner or later. It was better to tell her now than to let her imagination run wild. "Captain has already left," Scarlett said.
Nina turned her gaze to Scarlett, seeing the seriousness in her expression. "Where did he go?"
"He went to the Yaren territory," Scarlett replied.
"What?" Nina was shocked. "Why did he go there? Is it to get the antidote?"
"No," Scarlett shook her head. Seeing Nina's confusion, she continued, "Nina, haven't you noticed your health improving?"
Nina was taken aback. She had found it strange, but after so long without a cure, she had not considered it a possibility.
She looked at her arms, noticing the bruises were gone. Her body was indeed much better.
The doctors had said that giving birth would deplete all her energy and she was expected to die afterward. But she had survived.
There was only one explanation. Her poison had been cured.
"Is my poison cured?" Nina asked.
Scarlett nodded. "Yes."
Nina asked, "Was it Wilfred who created the antidote?"
"No."
Nina pressed her lips together and said, "Then Nash found the antidote."
"Yes."
Hearing this, Nina did not know what to feel. Nash had found the antidote for her but could not save their child.
It felt like a cruel joke from the universe. Nina remained silent, but she could not suppress her sadness.
"Captain went to great lengths to get
the antidote. Now he's gone to the
Yaren ferritory, and we don't know whatwill happen next," Scarlett said gravely.
Putting aside the cracks in their relationship, Scarlett was moved by what Nash had done for Nina.
Nina lowered her head, her eyelashes trembling. In a calm voice, she said, "You mean to say that he might be going to his death, right?" Scarlett did not answer.
Nina's frown deepened. "Why? Why does he have to go? Is it really his responsibility?"
She suddenly couldn't understand. Was it good or bad that he had returned to the military?
Scarlett offered an explanation. "Maybe he wants to find Scott too."NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
Nina looked at her again.
"You owe Scott a life, and Nash wants to help you repay that debt. It's something he can do," Scarlett explained.
Nina's expression grew more
troubled as she remembered the
hurtful things she had said before. She had said everything out of anger, and Nash had taken it to
heart.
She did blame Nash for their child's death, but it wasn't entirely his fault. She just needed someone to lash out at, and Nash had been her target.
"I owe Scott, so why is Nash
repaying my debt? Why does he
always make decisions for me?" Nina's emotions surged, and she clenched her fists tightly. "How long has he been gone?"
"A few days."
"Can we contact him?"
Scarlett hesitated. "Before he left, Captain said he wouldn't be in contact with anyone back home."
Nina's gaze turned back to Quincy. "He's giving me all his assets and leaving with nothing. Is he preparing for the worst?"
Quincy responded calmly, "Mr. York's only concern is you. He just wants to give you everything he has."
