Rita’s POV

I pushed him away before he could pin me down to the couch and rushed out of the office before he comes after me. “You will be the one to come beg me” I heard him say but I ignored him and ran as fast as my legs could carry me.

My heart was beating as fast as my thoughts were racing too. My body was trembling and my breathe was shaky.

I found my way to the restroom and locked myself in a cubicle. I have never been so scared and vulnerable in my entire life.

I took out my phone and dailed Finn’s number again, he still won’t pick up the call. I’ve never been unfaithful to him.

I tried to be calm and sniffed in deep breathe.

The lustful memories I had with Zane came rushing down my head, replaying the sex chat with Zane, our late-night chats, the heat of the conversations and the thrill I felt when sending him my nude pictures.

My mind was in a storm and I suddenly felt dizzy.

“Oh no..”

I heard a loud bang on the door.

“Rita! I saw you enter inside just now! Open up already” It was Evelyn.

I tried to comport myself and opened the door.

“Are you okay? Are you fine?” She must have noticed.

“Yeah, I guess” I answered.

“What took you so long? Just to deliver some files and return. By the way, I heard from the secretary that Mr Finn is not around”

“Yeah, I was just hanging around to while away the time, I guess” I said, leaving the restroom with Evelyn.

“Oh well, you truly did. It’s noon, time for lunch, c’mon”

“I’ll rather just stay back” I resisted.

“Adam said he has something to tell us both. I know he’s already waiting for us at the cafe, you can’t just decide not to show up” Evelyn locked my arms with hers and pulled me along.

We met Charles at the Cafeteria, he shined his teeth and waved at me but I ignored him totally.

“Before you go Adam, I have something to say first” I mustered up courage to say this because Charles was really staring at me.

“Looks like, this table right here is not to eat but to discuss ” Evelyn Chuckled.

I cleared my throat before I resumed; “I am in trouble guys, I don’t even know where to start from”

“Is it what I’m thinking right now?” Adam squinted his eyes.

“No, it’s so unthinkable, so unexpected, so complicated”

“What is it? What did you do that got you into trouble Rita?” Evelyn abandoned her meal to focus on me.

“Something terrible, I feel so ashamed to say this..” I began to whimper.

Evelyn quickly left her boyfriend’s side to come sit with me and console me.

“It’s Zane. Zane…turned out to be Charles. You know Zane, the guy I dated on Kikachat, he is Charles, Finn’s personal assistant” I announced.

“What? How.. how is that possible? You mean the guy staring at us right now?” She shot Charles a hard gaze too.

“Yeah” I nodded.

“You have moved on. Why are you worried? What’s there to be ashamed of?”

“Zane wants you back?” Adam chipped in.

“Something like that” I nodded.

“He must be very stupid to think he can just have you back after jilting you. Has he forgotten how he just abandoned you? Now he wants you back because you are engaged to CEO Finn. You know what, realising Zane Is Charles makes me hate him more. Say it right to his damn face that he is very stupid, infact, I’ll just do that for you..” Evelyn stood up to leave but I held her hand.

“Charles has my nudes, I sent them to Zane”

“What? Your …nudes… why? What? Why would you send your nudes to.. to Zane? Why would you even take a picture of yourself naked?” Evelyn queried, trying not to raise her voice.

“Don’t judge me okay? I regret everything now. I shouldn’t have, I know”

“I.. I am sorry” “So you are being threatened by him?”

“No, blackmailed?” Adam interfered.

“He didn’t ask me for money but he wants me back or he leaks the nude. He wants me to …have sex with him”

“What??” They bought exclaimed.

“I am in trouble. I wish the ground could just open up and swallow me. I wish I… I can just go back in time and fix everything” The tears began to flow down my cheeks.

Adam hands over a handkerchief, Evelyn helped wiped my tears.

“Sorry dear, don’t weep… you are causing a scene already” Evelyn consoled me while Adam tried to obstruct the views of those in front of me, that were trying to stare at me.

“I cause the day I met Zane online, I cause the day I agree to date him. I hate him! I regret everything. I need help, I need someone to talk to. Finn is not picking up my calls.. I don’t know what Charles is up to, maybe he must have told Finn, that’s why he won’t answer me. I…” I rushed my words, starting a new sentence before finishing the others.

Adam interrupted.

“Charles is not Zane”

“He is, if he is not how does he know everything about Zane and I. How does he know about the nudes, I have confirmed that he is Zane”

“No Rita, Charles is the founder of Kikachat Application” Adam said.

“What are you saying Adam? Where did you get that from?”

“Believe me, Charles is the popular internet god we all know as the owner of Kikachat. Charles is not Zane and since Charles own the application you used in communicating with Zane. He hacked his way through, he saw your conversation and your pictures, your nudes must have captured his attention” Adam briefly explained.

“What…what…”

“Finn is Zane!” Adam confessed.
