Chapter 183: Many Are Chasing After You
Chapter 183: Many Are Chasing After You
“Mrs. Beckham, be careful. Watch your steps.”
Hayden heard the maid’s voice as she held the door, “By the way, where’s the two kids? There’s too many people here, watch them closely.”
She felt worried about the kids and admonished again. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
“Little Noah and Little Stella were taken back to the room and there’s a nanny watching them closely now. Mrs. Beckham, don’t worry. It’s windy out here. Come in before you get a cold.”
“I’m fine. Don’t mind me. I’m just feeling the breeze to sober up.”
Hayden withdrew her hand from the maid and waved, letting the maid leave.
The evening breeze was gentle and fragrant.
Hayden had sobered up a bit in the wind. She walked into the courtyard and sat down on the stone table.
“Mrs. Beckham, are you alright?”
A male voice sounded, and Hayden was shocked. She squinted her eyes to look and saw a grey figure under the porch. The man was in a silver-grey suit, and he was one age with Joseph.
She vaguely remembered that this guy was the first to congratulate her after Harrison Beckham had just introduced her.
This man seemed to be Joseph’s cousin.
“I’m fine.” She said faintly, trying to stay awake.
She could never embarrass herself.
The man was handsome, and he walked towards Hayden after she responded. He then put a transparent plastic bottle on the stone table and said with concern, “This candy is for you to sober up. Taking one and you won’t have headache tomorrow. I’ve noticed that you have drunk quite a lot just now. I’m a bit worry about you, so I’m here to check if you’re okay. No offense.”
?
Hayden was bewildered.
Why did he follow her to the backyard, even knowing this was abrupt? Didn’t he know doing this was inappropriate?
Hayden suddenly felt that this guy was greasy and irritating.
“Thank you.” She nodded politely but didn’t pick it up.
“When did Joseph and you know each other? I didn’t hear Joseph mention about you before.”
The man casually asked.
Hayden was drunk and bleary-eyed, looking at him. She was a bit dizzy and answered, “I met him for not a long time. It’s normal for you for not hearing him mention about me.”
“I see. It seems that Joseph really likes you. Otherwise, it would be too hasty to decide to get married soon after you met.”
The man nodded as he seemed to understand it.
“He wants to marry me?” Hayden heard his words in a daze and felt funny, “How could it be? His first love is back and he can’t wait to break up with me.”
“His first love?”
This had caught the man’s attention as he came closer to Hayden and said carefully, “Seems that you have a lot of complaints about Joseph. How about telling me and I’ll speak it to him sometime.”
“Say what?” The man was caught unawares and nearly fell down as Hayden pushed him impatiently. He frowned immediately and gave her a disgusted look.
“I won’t agree with him even if he wanted to marry me or not. There’s many hitting on me too. Who does he think he is?”
The man froze for a second and snorted, “Nice one. Who did he think he is anyway, being so arrogant all the time. He is just lucky to be borne here. How about talking of how the two of you met…”
“We?”
Hayden raised her head and looked at the man in front of her, blinking. Suddenly, she grabbed his collar and yelled in a harsh voice, “Joseph Beckham, you son of a bitch…”
The man was zoned out by the alcohol smell when she came close out of the blue.
No wonder Joseph decided to get married suddenly. This woman was quite interesting.
“Mrs. Beckham, you’re drunk. I’ll take you back to have some rest.”
The man held her up and ready to leave. They just took a few steps and saw someone in the corridor. He looked up, and his heart missed a beat seeing him.
“Joseph…”
Joseph looked at him icily and came close to pull Hayden out of the man’s arms without saying anything. After confirming that she was intact, Joseph said in a cold voice, “Franklin Hawkins, I won’t hit
you for Harrison’s sake. But if you have designs on my things and woman, you’ll be dead meat. Believe it or not.”
After saying this, Joseph carried Hayden and walked into the house.
Franklin stood in the corridor, feeling the cold air. He was full of jealousy and hatred towards them.
You were so arrogant. But one day, your things would be mine when you were down.
The man was calculating as he grunted.
Joseph kicked open the door, carried Hayden into the bathroom and threw her into the bathtub.
He turned on the shower and poured it on Hayden. And he looked so gloomy.
Hayden shuddered and screamed as the cold water poured on her. She opened her eyes, seeing the man, and sobered up.
“Joseph?”
“Are you awake?” Joseph gave her the cold-eyed stare, “Do you want me to tell what happened?”
Hayden still had a lingering fear when thinking about what just happened in the courtyard. She clenched her fist and said stiffly, “Isn’t he your cousin? What could probably go wrong in your courtyard?”
“Still being quarrelsome?”
Joseph was furious, “What did you say to Franklin just now? Saying that you don’t want to marry me, is it? There’s many chasing after you, isn’t it? Who are they?”
“It’s none of your business.”
Hayden was in a rage after being poured by the cold water. She was in a mess and felt embarrassed. But Joseph was still pushing on her aggressively.
She immediately propped up the bathtub to turn out, and she said righteously, “We broke up. I didn’t refute in the public for Harrison’s sake. I’ll make it clear to Harrison now. Then we’ll go our separate ways after this.”
“How dare you!” His words froze Hayden.
She gritted her teeth, facing him and said stubbornly, “Why not?”
As she just said it, Joseph pushed her back, looking at her from above, “What kind of place do you think the Beckham family is? Coming and going whenever you want?”
Joseph had gone ballistic. The way Franklin held Hayden, but she didn’t resist was flashing in Joseph’s mind. Her words of not wanting to marry him were inside him. And the person in front of him was engraved on his heart.
But she kept wanting him to let go and give up on her.
