"You finished eating so quickly, Serenity."Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
Serenity smiled and said, "The both of us are fast eaters because we're normally really busy with work, and every second counts."
Imogen smiled in understanding.
Serenity took Sonny's hand and signaled for her husband to follow. The trio slipped out of the presidential suite and closed the door behind them considerately.
Zachary informed their bodyguards that they could take their dinner break instead of keeping watch.
Dylan and Imogen both understood that Serenity was purposely giving them space.
Once the two were alone in the room, Imogen picked up her glass of whiskey and elegantly sipped at it, though her gaze was fixed on Dylan.
Dylan inwardly sighed. What was meant to come would come. He asked, "Is there something you'd like to say to me, Ms. Doyle?"
Imogen silently drank her whiskey as she looked at him. Dylan was very good-looking. She had heard that the Yorks were all handsome, and now that she had met Zachary, she concurred; though Zachary looked more serious and had a colder personality. Apart from their initial greeting, he never looked at her again.
Zachary only had eyes for Serenity, which proved the rumors true that he was a doting husband who only loved Serenity. Moreover, he had quite the presence that Dylan could not measure up to. Dylan seemed much more gentle, but next to Zachary, Dylan almost seemed a little immature.
Without Zachary around, Dylan's excellence became apparent. At least, he was the most outstanding young man she had ever met. When he was good to her, he made her fall so easily. When he ignored her, it made her so angry she wanted to beat him up. Who did he think she was? A groupie at his beck and call?
When he remembered her, he would
tease her and then once again leave
her behind, running far away. This was not how you played a fiddle even if you meant to do it, S
Dylan surreptitiously moved to another seat.
"Why are you moving?" Imogen asked acerbically. Without waiting for a response, she continued, "Are you afraid I'll pour my whiskey all over your head?"
Dylan smiled sardonically and said, "Your expression tells me that's exactly what you want to do before giving me a good beating until I'm black and blue."
"Why do you think so? Do you feel like you've wronged me?" Imogen stopped drinking for now as she swirled her glass, watching the whiskey make a beautiful ar@before throwing Dylan a playful look.
After a beat of silence, Dylan stammered, "Ms. Doyle, I-I don't think I've done anything to wrong you." His tone was uncertain. He still felt guilty.
Imogen suddenly set her glass down heavily, which startled Dylan. He watched her closely, ready to make a run for it.
Imogen stood up and crooked a
finger at Dylan. "You're sitting too far
away. talk to
's too much effort too far
you. Get up and come over here so it's easier for me to talk to you."
"My hearing is great. I can hear you just fine from here." Dylan refused to move as if his butt was glued to the chair.
Imogen immediately moved away from the table and reached Dylan in a few strides.
Dylan wondered if it was too late for him to spring up and make his escape.
